IDN IE7 public beta finally here

Comment first! »

Members at IDN Forums have steadily keeping track of the progression of IE7 from Microsoft. For those of you that don’t know the main reason why international domain names could not go main stream was because although other browsers like Firefox, Opera, & Safari supported the use of IDN domains Internet explorer which still holds the market in Asia was incompatible with these domains.

Finally we have a public beta.

Take a look & test it out.

Some of the members on the site are especially happy to get into the international domaining market before the release because they’ve been able to secure plenty of premium domain names in various languages.

IDN Domains get love in January

Comment first! »

Starting the year off to a great start IDN domains (international domain names) finally get the recognition they deserve.

According to DN Journal the most respected online publication in English for domain buyers & sellers the #3 sale this week was the German domain name übersetzer.de (translator in German). DN Journal went beyond the bound of expectations & gave IDN Forums a huge plug as the resource for those who have interest in the international market. Thank You Domain Name Journal.

Domaining Blog also could see the domain industry will change & did a Question & answer session with me & Dave Wrixon. Dave currently owns one of the biggest collections of IDN domains from premium Japan domains to Arabic domains to Chinese city domains. Thank You Domaining Blogging.

DMOZ adds IDN Forums to domain resources list. Since I’m an SEO consult I was shocked that my site only being online for 4 months was added to the domain resources page on the DMOZ.org. Most people think it takes forever to get submitted & I’m glad that the members at IDN Forums have made the site a great tool for domainers.

Then last this article is not all about us but we are glad that DNForum.com has added an IDN forum to the site. Most of the members (if not all) are, or were members of DNForums & welcome the change. Actually Dave Wrixon inspired me to get into IDN domains from DNForums.

Anyway I’d like to thank the members of IDN Forums for their promotion of the site too. Every single day is bringing in more traffic than the day before. Hopefully we can continue to bring quality information to the domaining world. The internet is surely showing us love this month…

In the last 4 months that the members & I have been hard at work letting the English speaking Western world know about the potential soon outbreak of IDN domain names in countries like Japan, China, Korea, & Russian. After revamping the site I can see the message is getting through. We have 4 times the daily traffic we had just last month & I expect us to double January’s figures in March.

Chinese city domain names (Chinese city IDN domains) seem to be a hot commodity for our resident expert Dave Wrixon. There’s a vast amount of searches just for his portfolio. Japanese domain names seem also to be a hot item. Last month in December there were hardly any searches for IDN anything according Overture but the searches are increasing daily.
I am finding some people are timid about signing up & posting but our member’s also have a pretty good “Members Only” section where we have some of the non public info.

For me & other’s it’s just good to have a place where we can finally feel comfortable being part of this Domaining 2.0 the international version. Before IDN Forums all I saw was negative post over the internet about IDN domains & spoofing & how every just speaks English. I’m glad we don’t but heads too much. Let’s all grow & become globally focused…

China already has a massive IDN domain supporting Domaining community

I was looking through my logs recently & noticed a few site’s that I just never heard of while upgrading our site.

To my surprise I found this
Eachnic.com
http://www.eachnic.com
http://www.eachnic.com/club/

I found out that Eachnic is a Chinese equivalent of Sedo or Afternic which provides the service of selling domain names in Chinese. I assume that they don’t provice PPC parking services because most of the site’s aren’t pointed to parked pages.

The astonishing thing I found was this 5 year old Chinese domain seller, & buyer portal is actively promoting the sales of Chinese IDN Domains. You can see in the lower right hand corner that those are all Chinese IDN domain names.

They also have tremendously developed forum with close to 25,000 members… That’s even more than than DNForums.com & just about 1,000 members less than NamePros.com. Now with a portal that large in the native language already selling IDN domain names I really wonder why people “doubt” that Chinese, Japanese, Korean, & other nationals will not use native multilingual domain names.

That is not the only site either.

IDN Club www.IDNClub.com which is a Chinese IDN forum that is maintained by one of our forum members IDNer.
Domain Club http://domain.club.tw is a Taiwanese forum with plenty of IDNs.

I just hope people realize IDN Domains is Domaining 2.0
