There are other benefits to DNS hosting as well. For example, if you point 100 domains to my DNS server, then you don't need to go to 5 different registrars to make changes to all of them at once. As well, some of the registrars and parking providers set extremely long "time to live" on the DNS records, so if you want to point it somewhere else, it can take up to a week. This is frustrating at best. I will offer possibility to set "time to live" (how long ISP DNS caches are allowed to cache your domain records) per domain. . |

If you set your DNS so that all queries from US go to server X, and the spider is in the US, then server X will be the one which gets indexed. Consider a kanji domain (let's call it K) with seperate meanings in chinese and japanese, for example. Set the DNS for K so that surfers/spiders(baidu) with chinese IP will get IP address of "1.2.3.4" when they do a DNS lookup for K. Also set the DNS for K so that surfers/spiders(yahoo.co.jp) with japanese IP will get IP address of "1.2.3.5" when they do a DNS lookup for K. That way, the chinese search engine will index the site on server having IP address of "1.2.3.4", and the japanese search engine will index the site on server having IP address of "1.2.3.5". I think this is precisely the holy grail which you are looking for. And it doesn't have anything to do with HTTP, it operates purely on the DNS level. That means that the geotargeted IPs also work for other things than web servers, e.g. mail servers, etc. . |

the holy grail would be to manipulate the IP before once you get it and then pass to the parking company. why? as we know, the Yahoo spiders for Japan originate from the U.S (as thats where the hardware is), hence why our parked Japanese pages do not get indexed with Japanese ads, only US ads. If you can crack that, then you have found the holy grail, and we should all see the Japanese parking rocket. ** sounds a little dodgy to me, and i'm not sure how it fits with parking providers terms **

Yes, I understand now. This is a different than what I described, and I think it solves a different use case (the US spider case instead of the use case of sending users from Japan to a Japanese server, etc). Both use cases are feasible. I am able to crack that, and I don't think it violates any parking providers terms at all. It is simply removing the geotargeting from spiders. As this theoretically improves your traffic and clicks in a natural way, I don't see how parking providers could be anything but happy about it. If they were smart, they'd handle this themselves, but as you know, most of them aren't too interested. All personal differences aside ;-), are you interested in at least testing this type of service? I am not going to reveal the architecture publicly, but let me just say that I could have it operational within a week if there is sufficient interest. . |

i don't know about namerich, but i did a quick comparison between SC and nd, seems that even before nd got banned, it didn't really do much better then SC. In fact i think my names earned marginally more at dopa. I think i'm moving them back to SC. |
