Now the waiting game begins...

I've crossed my goal of registering 1,000 "IDNs with potential" and I've decided to pull out of the registration game for a while. There's still a lot out there, but every time I delve into the IDN mines I have to go just that little bit further to find anything. It's now time for the rising IDN tide to lift my boat along with all the others. Plus if IDN really do take off as we hope, I'm pretty sure that I'm set for life with what I've already collected.

Is anyone else ready to play the waiting game, or are you all planning to keep registering and registering? Just curious...

I've hit the waiting game also. Picking up some here and there. But for the most part I've got the ones I want.

Starting to build simple webpages on some of them now to get them indexed and hopefully ranked.

Exactly. I've been avoiding it for so long that now that I am ready I have to go in an sort, catagorize, get scores ect. ect.

For those that are just starting out, don't put that off make sure you do all of that in the beginning or you will be dealing with the headache I am.

Hey Edwin, I never did hear which ones are your favorites.

I'm pretty much done too, just checking now and then, when I get an idea for a good one I think may not be taken. I've come across a number of your registrations, like wax.com (ワックス.com) earlier today. I know you got some much better too, but I don't recall them.

I've been trying to stop for ages. it's hard.

Possibly I'm just trying to avoid actually developing sites.

Re: Now the waiting game begins...

I've been winding down too but haven't been able to stop completely. Although when I begin looking for IDNs now I almost draw a blank on where to start. I'm trying to think of sectors that may have been missed but there really aren't many.

I guess it is time to sit down and start developing. Although I stopped developing my English domains to get IDNs. Now I'm not sure which to do.

Re: Now the waiting game begins...

if the latest Japan Registry is correct, i think i already own about 0.20% of the .jp domains, why should i stop? if IDN are like "real state", i better own a bigger territory, even if the location of the "land" doesnt have "oceanview"

Re: Now the waiting game begins...

I've changed to a keyword targeted strategy, found many top generics, and i'm still registering. Also, i register about 15-20 drops a mth.

Re: Now the waiting game begins...

Of course the more that people register .jp , my percentage will go from 0.20% to 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000002% as my .com portafolio percentage must be.

though for now i also think that if i already own 0.20% and i bring some friends with extremely bigger budgets, odds are that Google Japan or Yahoo Japan will eventually be the ones coming to drop us a message under our doors interested in putting ads in our "land", instead of us going to leave a message under Yahoo Japan "House" . who knows, too early to say....

0.2% of .jp? How about as a percentage of idn.jp?

Re: Now the waiting game begins...

when i register there are a lot of things, it depends a lot if i find the full package or only the romaji .jp Full package means in certain words that can be written in 4 ways mean 4 registrations for the same "word" as japan.jp 日本.jp, etc. in some japanese words only 1 way is primordial, like lets say コンピュータ.jp katakana is the only one i would mind, instead of computer.jp Of course these gems are not mine and registered long time gone. but u could register cheapcomputers.jp japanguide.jp etc u got my point.

of course it is more expensive but on the other hand, it is easier to sell one .jp to someone when u have all or several of the ways the word can be found (.read searched or type-in), more difficult sale when u have the romaji.jp and i have the katakana.jp, i think u understand what i mean. anyway my way when i can find the available ones, if not i register what i can.

ic, in that case, you should spend time developing your own parking pages for the more generic domains - it will be easier for you as well. :-)

when you say keyword strategy do you mean two terms?
like "web hosting" etc?

No, i mean i go for single-term keywords. I skip 2 terms.

I would put up some of what i have registered recently for appraisal soon, but not until after i've taken enough, otherwise, Edwin and other vacuum cleaners will come in and sweep away everything.

;-) Just a joke.

Hi! Jeff, it is my opinion.anyway im not an expert. and i think i never said bad to some of you. "not so good" for a quick sale doesnt mean "bad" at the long term. my simple opinion as you worry about your budget. register at your discretion. but really i think u can get better value with a domain like quickloans.jp cheapcomputers.jp than if u register hotelsnyc.jp if you cant find single words . i think, who knows. ask Dave.

Hey, what on earth's my name doing there? I'm not one of the folks piggybacking on what others are registering!

Re: Now the waiting game begins...

I'm not talking about piggy back. .nets are not my concern, i'm talking about combing thru "web lists". ;-)

That method would sweep off the top generics in a few days. :-D
