For those who haven't seen this, this website provides a list of 2875 IDN.jp sites that are active. In many cases, we see that companys purchase their names and simply redirect to their existing corporate website. Nonetheless, it is encouraging to see more and more content on .jp sites!

That would seem to be 2875 that the registry is aware of and of sufficient quality for them to list.

That would be a correct interpretation Dave. Nonetheless, it is encouraging.

Also if you follow this link below there is a news article from Feb 14, 2006 announcing that our beloved goo.ne.jp search engine will now be able to list Japanese IDN.jp/.com/.net/and .org domains as is in their search results. Another positive step.

I would like to see some developed Japanese IDN.com websites too! (Not just redirects) - Actually redirects would be good for generics pointing to businesses promoting the related products.

At this stage, it's unlikely. IE7 not out; the ones developing are likely to have already got a site. why would they develop 2 sites for the same market?

If you go to the advance search on Yahoo and input Japanese Hirigana characters for search in the URL only and select Japanapese Language and select dot com for the extension, I am sure you will find plenty.
