Re: Notes about Arabic domains

very good insights in this thread.

things can get complicated to non Arabic speakers. For instance, all of this versions mean the same word (i think), but are written with subtle diferences.

الاسلاميه
الاسلامية
الإسلاميه
الأسلاميه
الإسلامية

It seems like the drop of the diacritics is the most usual but will this be a continuing trend? so the best may should buy the correct written word and then the more currently simplified version. but sometimes there is more than one simplified version :p

regards,
tonecas

I hope you are right about the traffic, and really hope it picks up (will be good for my business actually)

Maybe in the future my client would want me to buy YOUR أبجد.com domain! (this is just like ABCD.com!)

Wish you all well.
Funny after Saudi, Kuwait is my best cource of traffic.

Ten Bucks a month? Things have certainly moved on!

Not yet in my portfolio, but we have dozens over $10 that would not even have been getting one dollar back then.

My information tells me that a domain getting that much back then should be over $100 now.

Arabic has made strides in 5 years. Now #7.

English language hearing footsteps from Chinese. Wonder what the numbers were like in 2006.

Hmmm. I doubt those statistics are anywhere near accurate.

Clearly, they are assuming that the entire Indian sub-continent is English Speaking which is obviously nonsense.

Agree that there may be more speakers of sub-continent languages, but maybe not more internet users - yet.

In the forseeable future, the majority of internet trafffic will be coming from smart phones with internet service. Short one word Arabic names (as mentioned by OP) will be popular for brandings sites.

Like RD, I am seeing a nice uptick over the last year in Arabic traffic. It is growing monthly with most coming from KSA and Egypt.

Short-names have always been popular but as yet the World has had no significant exposure to Ultra-Short Names. But I think your comments on names used on phones is an interesting one.
