Dug this little gem up last night.

Has a reasonably low OT of 5k, but has 11 keyword bids and pulls a hefty 34,700,000 pages on yahoo.jp

Seems to translate fine as 'band', but I'm wondering if anyone could help with the contextual, day to day usage?

Like, cool music? Or (hopefully not) something only your nana listens too?

Not Band as in musical Band
Band as in Sash. A belt for a kimono I believe.
Sorry I don't know every term related with Kimonos but I think that's what it is...
