Re: I'm in Portugal
Thks Vorty, i got 1 portuguese name today, mudanças.com.
The translators translate it as "changes", but i think it's more like "mover" or "moving"? What do you think?

Re: I'm in Portugal
Hi Vorty,
Welcome aboard!
What do you think of these?
importações.com
exportações.com
guiadehotéis.com
táxis.com
tendência.com
ônibus.net
migrañas.com
indústria.net
metrô.com
atlântico.com
opção.com
>mudanças.com
my guess is "movers" as in "house movers" = VERY GOOD!

Re: I'm in Portugal
Hello,
alexd, that's 100% correct.
touchring, "mudanças" in a letter translation is changes... but Drewbert is correct, when you move from your house we call that "mudança". It's a good one for any "house mover" company.
Drewbert:
importações.com and exportações.com are really good together. Maybe some company that export and import will be interested in this ones.
guiadehotéis.com - I doubt that anyone type that in the browser... people will look for "guia de hotéis" in a search engine, so that needs to be developed.
táxis.com - good one imo... that can be use to any taxi service.
tendência.com - don't know about this one, why do you reg this?
ônibus.net - it's brazilian, and it's a good one too.
migrañas.com - maybe this is spanich, don't know what's this... lol
indústria.net - don't know about this one... means industry (I know you already know that...lol)
metrô.com - another brazilian, similar to táxis.com because they are all transportation vehicles.
atlântico.com - I like this one... it's a big ocean, can be used to many things.
opção.com - this means option, why do you reg this one?
To me the top 3 Drewbert is táxis.com, metrô.com and atlântico.com
Good job, all 100% correct translation!

Thanks Vorty!
tendência is think might be some sort of official paperwork in Brasil?
There's a similar word in Mexican Spanish regarding car registrations.

no atlântico as in Atlantic Ocean. It is generic.
The TM is the phrase, "pavilhao atlantico" . (If it is TMed)

Re: I'm in Portugal
this post inspired me to pick up these names:
televisões.net
exibição.com
ilustrações.com
animação.net
índice.net
câmeras.net
eletrônicos.net
pornôgay.com
pornôamador.com
pornôreal.com
grã-bretanha.net
still a lot of good .net to be had....

Re: I'm in Portugal
Drewbert, that word is also related with fashion.
jose, no problem in having "atlântico"... it's not TM.
OldIDNer, those are good names... no doubt about it. Specially imobiliária.com
passengerpigeon, I like câmeras.net
televisões.net - televisoes.net is available
exibição.com - exibicao.com is available
ilustrações.com - ilustracoes.com is parked
animação.net - don't know about this open... depends.
índice.net - It's a good name for any internet related services.
câmeras.net - good one for selling cameras.
eletrônicos.net - don't know about this one... it's brazilian and don't know if they use this very often.
pornôgay.com - same thing, brazilian.
pornôamador.com - brazilian
pornôreal.com - brazilian
grã-bretanha.net - don't know about this one also...
Note: Brazilian and Portuguese are two different things... it's like the english of US and UK. Portuguese is like UK and Brazil can be US... we in Portugal are 10M people and the are 140M. So Brazil it's the market here... however most of the words are the same.
I have some names and these ones are the only that get type in:
doenças.com (diseases.com) - disponível.com (available.com) - flogão.net - ginástica.com (gymnastic.com) - reabilitação.com (rehabilitation.com) - disponível.net (available.net) - ginásticas.com (gymnastics.com) - domicílios.com (domiciles.com)- recuperação.com (recovery.com) - domicílio.com (domicile.com)
Let's see when IE7 finally arrive if this changes

Interesting, this has surprisingly low BR OVT - domicílios.com. Seems that BR OVT doesn't work for portugal exclusive terms. Is there a portuguese dictionary that differentiates between portuguese and brazlian portuguese term? AV's Babelfish doesn't seem to differentiate?
Btw, are any of the terms brazlian only?
criança.com
tradição.com
finanças.com
câmbio.com

Re: I'm in Portugal
Thanks Vorty. It's great to have a native Portuguese speaker around.
One question:
I have NomesDeDominio.com (not IDN, though actually have that too in IDN)
Does this make sense as Domain Names? It's getting a few typeins.
Also, do you think ótimo.com is worth keeping?
BTW, here is one available to register maybe someone might like:
nó.com - think it means knot, a short one.

Re: I'm in Portugal
touchring, yes "domicílios" it's used in Portugal when you make something in the house of other person. I only reg this one for my profession...
I don't know any dictionary that can translate from portuguese to brazilian or brazilian to portuguese... sorry
Those 4 domains are correct in portuguese as well, btw finanças.com is a really good one. congrats
OldIDNer, thanks... it's great to be portuguese =D
NomesDeDominio.com - yes it's 100% correct. I only call "domínios" but the correct term is "nomes de domínios". That's correct.
Well, "ótimo" probably it's brazilian because in Portugal we say "óptimo". That domain needs to have some website behind,... because IMO no one is going to put that in the browser...
nó.com, it's availabe and it's good for marriage proposes... we use that here in portugal. When someone married... we say: "deram o nó" - will not get any type in IMO, but it's short and memorable.
I'm glad to see there's some interest in portuguese domains. Thank you!

You can't compare real estate in Portugal or Brazil with US... in Portugal the buildings don't have more than 5 or 6 floors. And btw... here in Portugal real estate is almost bankrupt, people are without money :
yanni,
mangá.com - don't know what this is...
vídeoslegais.com - legais means cool (brazilian), you have "coolvideos.com"
violão.com - yes, it's a music instrument.
ménageàtrois.com - lol... good one - this is french btw :p
mangás.com - same thing, what's this?
seguranças.com - this is securities.com
exportação.com - exporting? Correct!
ficção.com- good one.
cavaleirosdozodíaco.com - why do you reg this one? "knights of the zodiac"
eletrônicas.com - brazilian, in portuguese we say electrónicas.
papéisdeparede.com - wallpapers - yup, it's wallpapers... but we say wallpapers as well... this name "papéis de parede" it's only used outside internet...
lábios.com - lips.com, correct.
Are any name getting type-in traffic?

Vorty, thanks so much for taking the time to help.
manga and mangas is some type of Japanese animation (anime, hentai and manga) very popular.
cavaleirosdozodíaco.com Saw the results in Google and thought it had to do something with astrology. Oh well, looks like a brasilian cartoon series
As for traffic, here are the ones that get some in order of volume. mangá.com is the best by far:
mangá.com
vídeoslegais.com - there is a site in ASCII that's probably why.
violão.com
mangás.com
ménageàtrois.com
exportação.com
Thanks again for your thoughts.

Re: I'm in Portugal
Violão.com is nice - I believe it means acoustic or spanish guitar (nylon string guitar).
You hear this a lot in Brazil. Baden Powel - great player.
Actually, if you look at wikipedia - its says that violão is commonly used to refer to "the guitar" in Brazil (guitarra too is said there - usually referring to the electric guitar).
So basically in Brazil it is synonymous with "guitar", which is very good.
