Just can't keep away from the Japanese names...

I left this up for a good long time - but it's now gone.

You know what you need to do Edwin, don't you.

C'mon, stand up.....

"My name is Edwin and I am addicted to registering japanese keyword domain names".

Now, the rest of the group may now empathise with Edwin......

(I'm sure you said you were on a break)

Now, I can't remember that Seinfeld episode exactly. Is he off the wagon or on the wagon?

I really am going to try and call it a day this time - it was stumbling across some more word lists that triggered the latest registration frenzy. (I followed my own advice and went hunting in Yahoo! Japan's shopping category).

There's quite a lot of stuff I either didn't check or didn't go for... http://www.kenko.com/ yields some very large word lists, which you can get by selecting one of the left-hand navigation categories on the front page (e.g. 健康食品) and then choosing the top entry from the sub-category navigation (e.g. 健康食品全一覧) - what you're looking for is the "全一覧" which seems to mean "list of". That will give you thousands of words and expressions in total - after that, it's time to clean the list and hit Overture, Google and the dictionaries

BTW, some of the names on my list above may look weird in English, but they are generally reasonably popular in Japan. e.g. "ポン酢 .com - juice from bitter orange"... ポン酢 is on sale in all supermarkets and is quite a popular condiment/sauce.

Re: Just can't keep away from the Japanese names...

I think you'll find that "blender" is ブレンダー... the one that you have is the name of a magazine for teenage girls. BTW, you've got blender and postcard (in Japanese) the wrong way round in your post above (I mention that just in case you've also stored it like that on your list).

Re: Just can't keep away from the Japanese names...

Yeah Edwin you got ease up man.
Think about value a bit first.
I have no doubts that you can sell these easy terms to newbies to get them started in the business but take time to grab the big ones...

It's certainly not about domain parketing at our level, it's about branding & ease of recognition.

I believe your ルチン is short for Rakuten start thinking in these terms.
You've got one of the biggest tips I could give you...

Edwin you are cracking me up man. You are now where I will be in about one month. Hopefully, I'll learn from your example and manage to stop myself. I'm just trying to stay heads down to do some basic building out on some of my sites. I'm wrestling to try and restrict myself to like 10 or 15 regs a day.

Actually, in this case, I believe ルチン is "lutein" the vitamin supplement not a short form for Rakuten.

Re: Just can't keep away from the Japanese names...

I started off also almost registering everything i see until i realized, i would have trouble with the 2nd and 3rd year fees, so i decided to be more selective and buy from existing holders.

I would rather pay a couple hundreds to low thousands for a good generic than to register a hundred so so domains because the cost for these will repeat every year.

When idns will take off is still a question mark.

Re: Just can't keep away from the Japanese names...

I just don't want you guys to to take my comments the wrong way.
I think it's great that Edwin gets these general terms to sell to those new IDNers to give them a start in their portfolio. It's actually necessary. He does save the hassle for those who are just starting to get some generic terms.

I just want him to get a few of the really big ones for himself.
