Arabic/Farsi

Japanese/Chinese

Russian/Bulgarian.

German/Turkish.

French/Hungarian.

That would be a no.

Asiaplay is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Can I define IDN language by punycode?

Hi Ajiotaj,

I think his meaning is that punycode is arranged by character sets - namely you get English (Latin) characters in one range, then Cyrillic, then Asian and I guess then Arabic.

Therefore any distinction / categorisation is language based only - as Japanese / Chinese share some of the same characters and therefore they are likely to fall into the same punycode range and can never be differentiated down to Chinese or Japanese.

He therefore by "/" means I think, that those two language either side of the stroke can never be differentiated (as there is a cross-over in the language character sets they use).

I have not looked at this closely, as it is not something which has been useful to me... however I suspect this language cross-over issue will be the real answer.

Cheers, Asiaplay

Re: Can I define IDN language by punycode?

It is possible for longer texts to identify a language by searching for unique features. For 1 word, it is not possible. Therefore, for a domain, it is not possible.
