Agreed. The pundits just keep beating the drum that "idn.idn" was eventually going to be brought forward and in their minds those were going to be the "real" idns. I remember them always referring to them as "REAL IDNs", yet when you showed them the DNAME aliasing for .com they shrugged it off as never going to happen.
It is still baffling to me that so few ascii domainers don't diversify and take a small risk on IDNs on hopes they do end up being a good investment. For what they buy some of their LLLL's for they could get some truly excellent generic single word IDNs. Most are not even willing to take the time to explore what is going on, but in the end that is their loss and they will have a long time to regret.
