For the guys building sites...

Hey all,

I am super stoked about the CSS with web layers deal that is looking to be the new standard for design. I am not much of a believer in "web 2.0" not at least how people think it should be.

Web tech is only getting better, sites dont need to get simpler, they can get as advanced as we want them to be.

My index page in my sig. has employed the CSS web layers, an active x hack, high speed templates, flash, java and dhtml. If you hover the sattelite it will show a web layer example as well as clicking on the im4 logo.

I am going to try to make the whole page sit on a css movement engine so you can "touch" the page.

Any input on the build would be nice.

Please let me know what browser you are using if you find any bugs, I am working on browser detection with a custom page for each browser.

Re: For the guys building sites...

I'm just an affiliate. I shut my room down. The laws hit the operators and the cash handlers. Things will change soon though with current legislation.

I just put it out there in case anybody is into this stuff since I am having a hard time making all this stuff into templates. Maybe some exchange work deal, whatever, I'm always up for a deal.

I dont like posting on web dev forums lol, those guys make bad critics.

Also, I am still looking for a possible partnership on an IDN project so I just want to keep it out there

Re: For the guys building sites...

I see you are back promoting your illegal poker site again, even after being warned.

Jam packing your site with all sorts of fancy animatronic technology, hack work arounds, etc. only makes it slow to load and serves to annoy the user.

The goal of money making affiliate sites is to load fast, and get the visitor to the affilaite as quickly as possible, while at the same time, being chock full of text content that can be indexed by search engines.

As for the aesthetics of it, it looks like I landed in some black hole populated by the remnants of an advanced civilization of bots. Not sexy at all.

What's with the domain anyways? IM4Poker? Why IM? Why 4? For many Asians, the number 4 is bad luck. Sounds like death.

Number 4 is considered an unlucky number in Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Japanese cultures because it sounds like the word "death" (死). Due to that, many numbered product lines skip the "4": e.g. Nokia cell phones (there is no series beginning with a 4), Palm PDAs, the Leisure Suit Larry games, Canon PowerShot G's series (after G3 goes G5), etc. In East Asian, some buildings do not have a 4th floor. (Compare with the American practice of some buildings not having a 13th floor because 13 is considered unlucky.) In Hong Kong, some high-rise residential buildings miss ALL floor numbers with "4", e.g. 4, 14, 24, 34 and all 40-49 floors. As a result, a building with 50th as the highest floor may actually have 36.

More retarded comments from blast. Lets see.

It isnt illegal just because you say so. You makes these comments every time and I say the same thing. Look it up. You make affiliate porn sites. Thats illegal in parts of the world this is the net.

My site isnt slow and the net is only getting faster. If your cpu cant run it then you are an 84 year old lady on AOL. I dont need ya.

I dont need affiliate training from you. I have made more in affiliate cash than 99% of the members here.

As for your opinion of the site, its yours but your opinion is biased and doesnt matter to me.

Your long rant about numbers and searching for asian culture stuff is a waste of time. The domain is IM4 poker because its "Instant Messenger" for poker and I dont care about some retarded view of luck on the number 4 and that domains main demo is non asian.

If you don't want to get opinions, don't post asking for input if you can't handle it and are going to start calling people names and insulting other people's culture and traditions!

The design is not the best, and is slow to load. The number 4 is bad luck for the largest gambling population out there.

Maybe you should start listening to your critics. I actually googled you and found a lot of other web dev guys trying to tell you the same thing on other forums, ie. the design is garbage and the html code is overbloated fluff. Needs optimization on the technical side of things, and needs an overhaul of the design and layout on the user interface side as well.

Re: For the guys building sites...

Sure, you mentioned that you didn't like advice given in other forums, so I googled you to see what advice you got. And it was pretty good advice over at webdeveloper.com, and you still haven't gotten with it. Still creating bloated code and overblown stuff with no redeeming features.

Keep the sex talk about hardons and the bigot cultural attitude out of it, please.

Here is a simple technique to get started for those interested in this approach:

Start with a 1995 vintage animated star background:

Shake your logo:

Add some Java Snow:

Re: For the guys building sites...

ha, you know what I mean cowboy, It runs fine when viewed on a 5 year old laptop. The web is only getting faster and computers as well this site doesnt even begin to flex a modern systems muscles.

Besides its my hobby test bed site. All my others are standard white / light layouts and this was my first attempt at a full inversion in black. All my hi tech web tricks and gizmos go here first.

Thats def some antique stuff for an AOL site.

Or if you are interested you could hand render 400+ images and tie in php code for a DB system, skin your entire forum template to match the site and snyc . messenger, chat and rank systems to your site like I did.

Re: For the guys building sites...

Hi xxBossmanxx,

The comments you shouldn't take with offence - best type of critic is negative ones... as that is the way to learn.
I also do not think these comments were misplaced or made for bad reasons.

Biggest concern I have is the effect for search engines - do a "view source" on your pages and this is what a search engine will get (which is not much).

Design is always subjective (what someone likes another hates - is life) - but there is truth that it will load slower than other forms of coding design.
I also clicked around on your site and managed to avoid any affiliate links - which I guess is not what you were wanting really.

But you are right in another way - websites do not have to be boring and limited targeted use of java or flash or other components can liven things up (but targeted is the key I think - for example I once did a flash movie of a sky rocket taking off from where the company the website was located on the Earth Globe was, to fly off around the world to export markets (was fireworks products website... so semi relevant)... looked cool, but in the end I decided it really was not targeted enough, so I dropped it in favour of a faster page loading speed).

Just some add on comments and thanks for sharing so we can all learn.

Cheers, Asiaplay

Thanx Asia,

Ya I do search engine stuff. Content is what they like. I am always ranked well across many key terms.

I was #2 there but they all change all the time.

You keep claiming you get top terms. However each time you post terms that get 0 ovt... Anyone can get top rankings easily on these not so much searched terms.

what are you trying to prove? Ever used overture before?

OVT for "carbon poker" = no results
