Alaska edges out Califoria in income

Keeping up with the great tradition of bot posting economic data, check this one...

Top 10 wealthiest states

Here's where the median household income is highest

State Income
Maryland $65,144
New Jersey $64,470
Connecticut $63,422
Hawaii $61,160
Massachusetts $59,963
New Hampshire $59,683
Alaska $59,393
California $56,645
Virginia $56,277
Minnesota $54,023

Source: U.S. Census Bureau

Alaska data is a bit skewed since the cost of living is nutz. Avery rich state though with the biggest cash suplus and I think only 4 states have a surplus.

These are average salaries for european countries, except the currency in Euro. Of course the british don't want to be left out so they continue with the pound-for-dollar policy.

Don't take me too seriously right now, I've got a 40c fever which has been going on for two days now... but what I say is just about right.

Re: Alaska edges out Califoria in income

Ya, the oil makes most of it. Residents actually get dividend checks yearly. It used to be over 3k a year for EVERY SINGLE resident but now its about half that.

Still, a family of 4 can expect about 6k a year in free cash.

Yeah, no kidding. Men my age are not supposed to get tonsillitis, but I got it four times in the past two years after having not had it since I was 12 (29 years ago). I gotta see about getting these things removed. Now there's a non-IDN topic for ya.

Forget the investments, I might need to put myself on ice soon.

If you want dividends from oil revenue, apparently Alberta's the place to be.

Nope... It's Norway.

Quote:
Government figures show each Norwegian – there are 4.7 million citizens – owns on average assets worth one million Norwegian kroner. That is around $174,500.

And this is before the government’s pension fund – formerly the oil fund – kicks in, which is worth around $300 billion. Real incomes are expected to rise an additional 3.5 per cent in 2007, say economists, ensuring Norwegians will continue to enjoy the highest standard of living for some time yet.
Pretty amazing, even for a country that's got half the population of New York.

Re: Alaska edges out Califoria in income

I was on a plane ride with an MP the other day. We were heading for the California desert. He said that, as long as you don't have to carry a weapon and no one is shooting at you, any place is a good place to travel.

I lived in Norway and absolutely LOVED it! (My heritage is Norwegian) I loved Europe. I love Mexico, Canada, and almost all of our United States (like 50 different countries, they are).

My view: As long as you do not HAVE to carry a weapon, you have food, water, & shelter, and no one is shooting at you, it is probably a nice place to live.

People in Norway are not rich, but they do alright. The place has got the highest cost of living in the world. Norwegians might be rich if they'd sell everything and move to USA.

They really shouldn't map the economy of Norway to the US dollar, but use internal purchasing power instead as the metric. Internal purchasing power is the the only metric which matters at the end of the day.
