GOOGLE:: Stealth project to fight Parking

GOOGLE:: Stealth project to fight Parking

I overheard one chap in the UWS office cafeteria talking about the feasibility study to choke off the parking biz. Apparently, goog is perceiving parking and verticals as a serious threat to their bottom line.

Where does all this shit come from? Google is the main force behind parking. Google use parking traffic to supplement their search generated traffic and balance the supply and demand surges in their business. The parkers get the crumbs from the Google table.

Other advertisers will have to adopt a similar model to be able to compete.

Yes, sure Google are not going to give anyone a free lunch. Their most lucrative business comes from conversion of search generated leads, but they need to try to keep everyone happy all the time. In some areas they have too much traffic and not enough advertising, in other areas they have too little traffic to satisfy demand for the most lucrative terms.

They make money from parking, sure not as much as from search, but the important thing is to present a seemless service to their Clients. That is what they use parking for and why they are prepared to pay good money for your traffic, and they still make a nice cut!

Re: GOOGLE:: Stealth project to fight Parking

i'm not sure about the details.
It's possible they'll choke the sites getting paid by, say, Yahoo.

The algorithm I saw works like that:

Goog checks the first 10 listings of it's own search results.
It sends the robot to snoop around the source code of the target site.
It probes anywhere from 10 to 200 times in the space of 2 hours.
If the site found 'guilty by association' it's immediately removed from the goog list.

How about mini-sites with adsense, will it also remove?

I also heard that Google was the second shooter on the grassy knoll.

Yes, sure that makes sense.

At the moment here though it generally works the other way around. Yahoo Search generates the leads and Google cashes in. Why because Google supports parking in a way that Yahoo doesn't! Who is losing out, why Yahoo of course.
