Can u help translate these for US$50?

Hi

I'm looking for someone to confirm translations for these Chinese domains for me. US$50 is up for grabs here, and i'm looking for someone to spend a bit of time on this - you'll need to translate the names in to English and say whether they're Chinese Trad, Simp, or both. A bit of comment saying whether, in your opinion, any names are 'awkward' i.e. not commonly understood/or used, will also be needed.

PM me if you are able to do it, and i'll be posting your translations in this thread.

Here are the names:

自由.cn
言.cn
讓.cn
軟體.cn
部.cn
金钱.cn
領域.cn
首.cn
黃色.cn
者.cn
等.cn
眼睛.cn
相片.cn
發現.cn
现在.cn
率.cn
查寻.cn
月.cn
日期.cn
手.cn
我.cn
想.cn
您.cn
怎么.cn
它.cn
如果.cn
場.cn
在网上.cn
問.cn
名字.cn
及.cn
前.cn
來.cn
位.cn
价值.cn
事務.cn
木.cn
土.cn
口.cn

I don't have PayPal, but i'm sure we can work out some quick way of payment :-)

Regards,

Re: Can u help translate these for US$50?

Note that some of the ones listed as "TC" / Traditional Chinese are actually ok for both (namely Traditional and Simplified Chinese both use the same characters).

You can check this yourself at www.mandarintools.com -> choose C/E Dictionary (put the characters into the box and click "look it up".
You will then be shown the traditional and simplified form for each character or word (if only a Traditional Character version is shown - then this means that the same Character is used for Traditional and Simplified).

E.G. 手
Trad. Simp. Pinyin English
手 EMPTY shǒu hand; convenient
This means the character 手 is the same for Traditional and Simplified characters.

Cheers - Asiaplay

which suggests that .com or .net extension has better values for these words.

Quite a nice list of domains and Bugmac did a nice job translating them.

Like Touchring said, with .cn you get both TC and SC, check here with the registry to confirm

Just like to add , after a quick scan, that 黃色.cn next to yellow also has the meaning of pornographic

Re: Can u help translate these for US$50?

Hi,

Thank you very much for your kind replies guys, particularly Bugmac.

I know the basic translations via Altavista/other generic translation program, but was hoping for a more detailed translation, perhaps from a native speaker who could also comment whether any names are 'awkward' or easily misunderstood.

Thanks again for the great replies. As all of you have made some contribution in one way or another to this thread, I will donate the US$50 to the Jessica Locke Firefighters Fund.

All the best, I appreciate your help :-)

No apologies needed, there is nothing wrong with helping other forum members for free if that is your choice.
People have been helping others for free here since the forum began. For those that wish to charge money, there
is nothing wrong with that either.
