Tina has been at this for a long time...
Now that the Russian govt and the Chinese govt are approaching full speed for
1Q10 for the fast track cctld in the root zone...
Verisign is going to have to come clean with the variants at some point.
ASCII renewals from China and Russia will plummet eventually for
transliteration sounding URL's ..or for bad acronyms/ abbreviation URL's...
But at least Tina said the dot com/ dot net's work already...
often it has been that idn dot idn are the only true idn's kind of stuff...
the RTL stuff is important....
In Sydney...
I think Arabic / Farsi / Urdu people have seen that the bluff is over....
Egypt and a few gulf states seem ready........
I think Iran, Pakistan, and 20+ Arab states are not ready.
A 12 to 18 month lapse in judgment may make these RTL languages go forcefully to dot com/ dot net if Verisign commits to these variants and performs well in the first half of 2010.
