It's obvious.
.eu is part of a large and elaborate conspiracy involving JC, LS, TDC et al. It is rumored that RD is involved in their steering committee. Drewbert, thefabfive and touchring are said to manage the drops.
Their goal is a simple one: to draw attention away from IDN using the mother of all red herrings allowing their syndicate to soak up the landscape of the very best IDN before the coming of IE7 and Vista.
