All search redirected to Baidu

Can anyone in China confirm this story.

"Further to our earlier story on visitors to Google Blogsearch being redirected to Baidu in China, new reports have surfaced that would indicate that China has unilaterally blocked all three major search engines in China and is redirecting all requests to Baidu.

Digital Marketing Blog posts that all requests to Yahoo.com and sub-sites are being redirected to Baidu. Google Blogscoped forums indicate that Live.com is also being re-directed to Baidu, as well as confirming the Yahoo story and our earlier Google post. The re-direct would also appear to apply to YouTube.com."

Re: All search redirected to Baidu

I'd be interested in this too since I run a few PPC accounts in China.

Re: All search redirected to Baidu

I am using China Telecom ISP service. Everything is fine at this moment, no redirction.

But I am not surprised such redirections have happened. Last week, every time I turned on my computer and (first) opened my Mozilla browser, my browser was hijacked and redirected to an ad site for 30 seconds. There's no button I could press to escape but had to wait for 30 secs to be taken back to my intended website. Everything is normal this week.

There are all kinds of abuses in all levels of organizations or businesses in China. But don't ever think these are directed by the government. I can assure you, the Chinese government is very serious about the rule of law, but the Chinese people and workers need to be taught and trained to respect laws and rules.

No, the redirection was done by China Telecom with their own ads. Taking China Telecom to court is the best way to prevent such practice from happening again.

Your ISP, or any equipment between you and the destination site can circumvent your query any time they like.

A wireless router manufacturer did it once and got into a pile of crap about it.

Ahhh - here it is...

QUOTE FROM ARTICLE:
US Internet search engines in China were being hijacked and directed to Chinese-owned Baidu, analysts said Wednesday, speculating that the move was in retaliation for Washington's award to Tibet's exiled spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.

Speculations are just speculations, they are 100% wrong. But the Chinese government should seriously punish the perpetrators to uphold law and order.

Re: All search redirected to Baidu

In my eyes I view it like this
Google redirects searches from the browser to Google.
Baidu most likely thought of it from them & thought we'll go one step further & redirect straight from the ISP...
