Top premium IDN.com for sale with NO RESERVE - IDN Forums

I have been here on the shadow watching your latest rants and rages about IDN.IDN and Moniker auction and have a chalenge to propose you all:

Why not post for sale a Top premium IDN.com with NO RESERVE!?

This would have three purposes:

1. For the pessimistics about the future of IDN it's an excelent opportunity to pocket some real money before the ship sinks. You (I know who,lol) will be the seller.

2. For the optimistics ones it's an excelent opurtunity to grab an excelent domain since it's NO RESERVE. You (I know who,lol) will be the buyers.

3. For the rest of us, it's a market test. I am really curious to see where a Top premium IDN.com with no reserve could fly to.

I think it's a pretty good idea, jose but with all due respect I would like to see it for sale in an area outside this forum. I think the seller would suffer but I understand the idea of "taking one for the team".

The seller would suffer. Period. Giant had a good run with some good IDN sales and Tokyo.net was cool, but few serious buyers want to buy publicly on an auction. We all know this from experience. We need to go outside the forum for this to work.

Gotcha. How much luck has anyone had contacting the source directly? Say a government or company that may benefit (well, we think they would)

from an IDN.com, .net, etc.? I'm asking because I don't have the sales experience most of you have.

Put a high reserve.

Hardly ever works, whether ASCII or IDN. Waste of time. Golden rule of direct sales is wait for buyers to come to you.

Thanks for your help, domainguru, markits, RD. But how is a buyer supposed to come to you if he/she doesn't know you exist?

Absolutely. Quality is everything. If you have a desirable domain, buyers will flock to you. I once brokered an ASCII domain name and was getting 5-10 genuine offers *per day*. If you aren't getting any offers, the name isn't that great, end of.

Anyway, with the lack of sophistication of palate here and the tendency to get stoned on a lethal concoction of home-brew rather than invest in loving matured vintage tipple, we are focusing on trying to get domains into new venues. Oddly, at the moment we are getting good initial response.

Most domain privacy services should forward emails. If they don't, you need to turn on the parking option that allows offers to be forwarded from the website.

Which of course presumes you want to sell your names, which fortunately we don't.
