Mini personal milestone

My collection of Japanese IDN broke through the 1,000 mark earlier today. And to think a few weeks ago I was sitting at 1,000 for ALL languages and thought I was done!!

Perhaps, though since I'm now at 1,126 that may not be far away. (Er, yes, I've done quite a lot of registering today...)

I hope i could register more, but i'm quite short of time, i've been training my guy in China to translate, analyse drops, and i'm thinking of getting him to find domains as well. If it works, i may get one more person in.

Bill, how do you run your biz and yet spend so much time on this?

Still tons of stuff out there - I'm gulping the names down as fast as I can reg them... Probably going to pick up another hundred or so today.

Some nice goodies too, for example...

ハード.com (hard.com - but in Japanese it also means "hardware")

Again, this is ALL based on cutting and pasting wordlists - I'm not dreaming up any of these... Frankly much more efficient that way, as I can mine thousands of "possibles" in a few hours to pick out the good stuff.

99% of the time I'm only regging .com. Stretches my money further, and they're easier to trade too...

Lack of sleep...seriously, we have a couple of our staff helping part time with IDNs, research, reging etc. as needed. I did the bulk of reging over Christmas when we had some good time off. We also purchased some leads and lists and that was a great investment in time savings and translation. Now, I just try to get about 5 regs in a day as time permits. We have been working hard to code a new website for idnbrokers.com (free bulk listing for sale of IDNs), and hope to have that up and running later this week.

Edwin has a system that he published a ways back about how to cut thru lists at a pretty good rate, and use the bulk punycode converter. I don't remember where he published it but he was doing some pretty large lists in about a 2 hour time frame. Maybe he will publish the information again. We have been working on adding some Chinese lately which is the most challenging of all as a good 35% that show "open" won't reg and the dictionary doesn't match the Systan online translator. I appreciate your and Kenne's generous help on translations from time to time.

Thanks, and good luck with them. At the moment I'm limiting my .jp acquisitions to the absolute must-haves, mainly on price grounds.

Yesterday, through a massive stroke of luck, I managed to pick up ベーグル.com (i.e. bagel.com) while working through some word lists - it had definitely been owned before but must have dropped recently. So I immediately rushed off and bought ベーグル.net and ベーグル.jp to have the full set, as bagels are big business in Japan these days.

[b]Update:[/b] Well, ultimately I ended up regging around 130 names today. I'm all tapped out for the moment, as that's every wordlist I can lay my hands on processed. Still, I'm sure there's plenty more out there for us to stumble upon!
