Renewal Reminders

I have had a name drop at Enom with no reminder. Not too late though in this instance.

I have more with Dynadot and Moniker, but I am sure somebody got me involved in some other lame registrar I cannot recall. Probably began with D. No not Domainsite nor Dotster. Can somebody suggest what I might be missing?

Browse here? http://www.icann.org/registrars/accredited-list.html

Starts with i but maybe iDotz.net ? dd24.net / domaindiscount24.net or DomainDiscover (if they even do idn)

Pretty sure I had something at DomainDiscover24, but there is nothing there now!

Re: Renewal Reminders

Yeah, I was going to say DD24.

Other places I've gotten names from deals on this forum, and almost forgotten about them were Name.com and Name.net

Re: Renewal Reminders

Yes, it is a problem. You need to be consolidated enough to avoid silly drops, but not so consolidated that you are going to be taken down by the potential collapse of a registrar.

I need to divest out of Domainsite.com. I need to get the hell out of Enom. I think I would like to spread into Moniker, and I am thinking that Dynadot might be the best third corner to my empire.

Any thoughts.

Re: Renewal Reminders

I am extremely happy with Dynadot. They have folders, mass operations per folder, etc. The price is right, the user interface is excellent, and they handle transfers beautifully.

Re: Renewal Reminders

How does their reseller pricing compare with Domainsite's? Any promotional code available?

Re: Renewal Reminders

Dynadot is by far the best, IMHO.

$7.50/ Name If You Have A Good Number Of Names.

I didn't ask, for a discount....they just started discounting my names, after I had acquired a certain number....I just can't remember
what that number was.

They have 7.50 dot com and 5.75 dot net if you spend over 500 in the past 12 months.

You can spend 500 pretty easily if you want just by doing a large transfer in.

Re: Renewal Reminders

Isn't that too high compared to $6.49 (which was six months back) charged by domainsite? Have to check what it is now.

What are other advantages of dynadot vs domainsite?

Re: Renewal Reminders

I consolidate into Moniker. Domainsite has always seemed very sketchy to me.

What I like about Moniker is that the CEO is a reachable, public figure in the domain industry with a major reputation at stake.

I don't know about domainsite, but dynadot just raised their prices 50 cents due to Verisign price hikes.

Dynadot has an API. Their user interface is 100 times better than domainsite, etc.

In the end, use what you like :-)

Re: Renewal Reminders

Since the "improvements" transferring is such a problem, that I am less enthusiastic about doing it. I certainly get domains in Limbo with Moniker on a regular basis.

Frankly this is one of the reasons that we have are implementing a policy of not selling anything under $50 a name. If it ain't worth that it is not worth the aggregation of completing the transfers and doing the accounts. At that price mark it is either a hold or it is a drop. It just ain't worth my time screwing around trying to make sales.

Re: Renewal Reminders

I'm spread at Dynadot and Domainsite. I agree Dynadot has a better interface but I like the ease of transfering in
and out of accounts at Domainsite. Both get good marks for service...but higher marks for Domainsite for my 2 cents.
Once you make contact with one of their specialists you can just communicate with them directly by email.
Domainsite is a decent size registrar, much larger number of domains there overall than Dynadot so hopefully they have
the cash flow for stability etc. Bill Mushkin is also owner of name.com I believe. At any rate I hope that something positive
came out of the registerfly mess for domainholders security.

So anyone know how the registrar system has now changed or improved as a result of that fiasco?
