Re: Parking in December

Parking stats have been really strange. November was all good. This month, one day is incredibly high, next is lower than usual, and back again. Swinging back and forth. Day of the week is not the factor. Very very strange, but still on track for best month ever (again).

I questioned my portfolio a couple months ago... now I'm pretty happy with it. It could be better, but I think I'm doing fine for investing in a market where PPC sucks.

Maybe, but in terms of knowing what is going on in the markets which are of primary interest, it is just noise.

Some arabics (depend on keyword) is better because there are few arabic ads - they display american ads instead - wihch you get higher yield.

In fact, a year ago, arabic brought in the best yields when they displayed all american ads.

Re: Parking in December

The English ads aren't bad, but you get a low CTR. Advertising on a decent scale won't happen soon for the Middle East--IMO. I can't see myself getting rich of Arabic PPC. Hell, I'm wondering how long it'll be for some names to actually make their cost back (2nd market). When you get crap PPC, you have to wonder these things for the future. Debt is killing me .

You can't classify the "middle east" as a single advertising entity; some countries will advertise on a grand scale while others may never advertise. BTW, most of my Arabic traffic and PPC comes from the maghreb and Egypt.

Normally trends will spread through the whole Middle East. I'm sure populations in some countries will advertise online more, but I'm looking for a general "overall" increase. This is the increase I'm saying probably won't happen very soon. I hope to be wrong, though.

Look at google trends for most of your top single-word Arabic terms. I find that most terms have really strong trends in one or two countries, but it's not the same countries for every term. And I'm not talking about targeted traffic, either, which generally has no trends. One could reason that advertising trends will be roughly in line with google trends.

I think that most of the terms which have strong trends across all Arabic speaking countries were taken by Nasser in 2001 and he's not letting them go. Well he did do that small release to Snapnames portfolio auction a few months ago, but it wasn't a significant quanity - probably just an easy way to fund renewals for a while longer.

U have to minimize the debt, it will affect ur decisions psycologically. Better to have a few prime names than to maintain a huge portfolio of average names.

I'm trying hard. I see it as healthy debt. I've been really close to PMing a few members here to make offers on their domains, but have held back since my Visa + Mastercard bills. LOL.

Anyone getting really irritated by Namedrive's updated stats? The domains I have parked there are getting GOOD traffic and making something, but when I check back in 2 days, the clicks all get valued @ 0.01cents!

Hey, that's parking... Same thing happens with ASCII French & Spanish for me. Foreign advertisers have to start spending money.

That's how they make you feel good, because you tend to see the better results more than you see the revised results, it's psychology.

For Arabics, sometimes changing to english keyword (especially for technology terms) can help boost PPC without reducing CTR.

I've not experienced it for myself, but I also heard that Sedo pays better for Arabics. Hope this helps.

Have tried it all, trust me . I'm trying to figure out *DECENT* optimization techniques. Any finds you can be sure that I will share them with members. Right now I'm finding that the No RS theme is working fairly well with a majority of IDNs. Basic feel + straight to the point (ads in your face).

I'm also trying to work on something super special for the members. Just give me a little bit longer to see what the hell is going on, and I'll report back.

About the debt, that's what I get for having faith, huh? LOL. There's some IDNs I'd be willing to go even more in debt for if I had the chance. Just gotta think about it!
