Oh, c'mon RD!

Nobody wants to pay realistic prices for IDNs right now - everyone is either hoping that people will just start fire-selling their premiums, or many are still spending on fresh rges.

But you can still flip an ASCII for a quick buck. I just sold 6 .mobis ($60 worth) for $350. Obviously not a huge amount of $$, but I'll take it for the minimal work I put in regging those.

if someone will pay $12K for SafePass, then SafePasses has to be worth something.

A buck's a buck (although I wish a buck was a pound or Euro, but that's a whole different thread).

Re: DNJ Sale Report for Nov. 26 - Dec. 2

No, if you can sell domains to them then that is fine. More power to you.

It is the genuine continent wide lack of any intellectual understanding of what domains are all about in the first place that leave me stunned.

Chinese, Russian, Arabic domains are simply domains. The fact that they just don't get it means that they have scant understanding about what their English.com are really all about. And that is most apparent in the crap that they buy.

On the premiums, no I am just in the process of setting up another 3 months renewals. Might sell a couple if get interesting offers, otherwise it is a question of just holding what we have.

Re: DNJ Sale Report for Nov. 26 - Dec. 2

Yeah, that's very true. I obviously look at the DNJournal list every week, and sometimes it seriously makes me wonder if I am going about domaining the wrong way.

I mean, the value in a name like Melbourne.com or Brisbane.com, UI.com, even WeldingRobots.com - fine, I get those.

But when you see stuff like "vanegas.com" for $2,400; "speedi.com" for $3k; "tubeo.com" for $2,500, etc. it boggles the mind.

Now, I realize these could be last names, end-user brandable sales, etc. but still...

And then you see a name like LCDTV.net sell for $1,000? You can barely buy a good LCD TV for a grand...

**EDIT**
It would appear that Tubeo may mean "snorkelling" in Spanish? Although if it is, if the Google results are any indication, it isn't used often...

The DNJournal list can be considered "The most overpriced domain sales from the past week".

The vast majority of sales, and many great bargains, are not reported.

It's not much different here. I bet I couldn't sell الأهلي.com or الهلال.com for $500 each in this forum if I tried, and that with the public knowledge that I already turned down a $500 offer for الأهلي.com from a Saudi native just last week.

If it doesn't mention games, movies, travel, sex, music, or a geo then most here see absolutely no value. It truly boggles my mind.

Nice grabs, congrats. I have however learned that a domain deal is much more about the buyer then the seller.

You can have a very similar domain (either plural or other extension) of a domain that sold for $xxxxxxx and STILL can't pass it for fifty bucks.

The amount of domains being offered for sale is overhelming and the buyers are very few. That creates huge distortions.

Re: DNJ Sale Report for Nov. 26 - Dec. 2

Yeah, too true. A small-scale example of that:

I reg'd a name (ASCII) and it got in the TRAFFIC auction - this was a few auctions ago. The name ended up in the silent auction and sold at the last minute for $600.

As soon as I saw it was going to sell, I realized that I had reg'd only the plural version, and left the singular - and this was a domain that makes just as much sense in either singular or plural.

So, I checked, and sure enough, the singular was still there. I grabbed it - and I'm still sitting on it...

Crazy!
