Well, as long as their Adwords team doesn't support localization (IDN Display URLs), then they will not gain a foothold in local advertising markets.

Re: Domain blocked by advertiser

Rubberduck - this was a complaint on their core market (USA based advertising).
Interestingly enough as well - his biggest complaint was with Yahoo (but also with google)

I would suspect that sites for IDNs are more useful (on the whole - as most are real keywords) than a lot of the ascii ones which he was paying for... and yes, if a large percentage of people complain - this is an issue and google and others will need to ensure their paid per click, is as sound as their search rankings are (or advertisers will go where they feel they are getting their monies worth).

How far this complaining goes (only goggle and others know) - but my point, as I said is... developing content which matches what people search for will safeguard against this problem and why a domain gets rejected.

Only sharing so people know the pressure which might be driving google and others to change their stance and think about this (to develop or not, is now our choice), before one day we find all parked sites being rejected.

Cheers - Asiaplay

Re: Domain blocked by advertiser

There is an argument for not allowing mismatching of Keywords with Domain Names. Sedo has an approval process to get around that problem. It might be a problem with IDN at a later date, but levels of awareness are like not even a blip on the Radar screen, let alone being annoyed at skewed keywords. If you have good keywords, I would recommend that you use them, because although they might not be the highest paying, you will get higher CTR and return traffic from providing a useful resource. This will result in earnings growth but may lead to accusations of abuse because the same IP addresses will keep cropping up. Parking Sites can be very useful resources, particularly to the less illuminated. This is one of the reasons that the Type-In Traffic phenomenon is so enduring. Google still have a lot to learn!

Ed @ namedrive has also gotten back to me personally with the response that they are working on this issue.

I guess he's pretty swamped with complaints about this right now...

Yup, i know, just sharing my own thoughts as an advertiser. People like their ads to be placed on a nice looking site. That's the thing.

I had 3 blocked yesterday and another 3 today. And the domains blocked don't appear to be nasty ones.

Re: Domain blocked by advertiser

Hmm... I see it now. It is on the bottom. And I have one blocked 05 Sep 2007.

But I must say that it is TM one. So it was question of time...

Re: Domain blocked by advertiser

Are they starting an IDN purge? I had two Japanese domains blocked the other day for the first time in two years, then another two today. Out of the four, two were understandable, but the other two were completely generic, everyday terms (one travel term and one tech term). If they keep chipping away names at this rate, I will not be a happy camper. Has anyone been able to get a more detailed response from ND, such as which category the block falls into?

Re: Domain blocked by advertiser

I just checked, Adsense doesn't seem to be banned (it appears at least), but not sure if the earnings will come through.

Anyone has more findings on this?

While I never tested it, my understanding was that adsense will be blocked as well. Please keep in mind that if there is an Adsense ban, it will take 48 hours or so to be fully implemented. You could also install an Adsense preview tool (work for IE only) (https://www.google.com/adsense/suppo...0005&topic=160) to see what's being served in different locations.

There is a chance that I am wrong and Adsense is not blocked, so we could all take a breather. So, if you could come back to us in 48 hours, we'd appreciate it.

Ops, too early to rejoice then.

Btw, has anyone got their name blocked even when the name is under a minisite or website? I'm considering whether to delete the name entirely from ND, besides changing DNS.

Re: Domain blocked by advertiser

Happy to see this topic getting openly discussed - as seems is very widespread...

Just thinking that perhaps this discussion is better moved to be under "members area" topics (rather than left open to search engines) - if anyone thinks so - please notify Olney or another admin here (as seems Olney is not checking his PMs at the moment and I am not sure who is best to suggest this to).

Just thinking might be a good idea for some of you, given the angle the topic has taken (for myself personally, I am not worried, so idea is just with you guys in mind).

Cheers, Asiaplay
