These 48 hrs bidding exercises take too much time, especially for me, one who has trouble tracking when the 48hrs ends. Is there a forum plugin that can make such auctions easier, including 'countdown time" and send email if there's a higher bid?

You should be able to set things so that you get an email for each time a thread is added to where you have already posted. You would therefore know if you have been outbid. I get notified each time there is a bid on my thread.
