Japanese keywords in .net

What do you think about registering Japanese .net words? Are they worth picking up or should you only really stick to .com & .jp?

Also, do you know where's a good cheap place to register .jp names?

Re: Japanese keywords in .net

JP-Domains (Referal Link) is the best for .jp, IMO. This is assuming you live outside of Japan.

.NET I think is OK depending on the word + results. I wouldn't go for crappy terms in .net with Japanese just cause I'm not certain about the extension. I do have a good performing .net Japanese IDN though (I think, lost track of my Japanese IDNs a while ago).

Most of us here use JP-Domains to reg .jp's

There pricing comes out to about 15.00 dollars a name.

As far as ext. its getting pretty late in the game to fresh reg , but i say just get in where you can fit in. Dot Jp would be on my agenda before .net though .

Re: Japanese keywords in .net

if you have some japanese or kanji ability then i recommend muumuu domains. 660yen a pop for jp idn, (thats like $7?)

but all the dealings ive had with micheal from jp-domains have been impressive.

Re: Japanese keywords in .net

I think Japanese keywords with dot NET is okay.

I personal got few hundred Japanese domain names, and most of them are dot NET.

For your ref. -

Quote:
canonical name にほんご.net. (xn--38j2b6b6e.net.)
Domain Name: XN--38J2B6B6E.NET
Status: ok
Updated Date: 22-mar-2007
Creation Date: 09-nov-2000
Expiration Date: 09-mar-2008
[ にほんご.net ] - this dot NET domain name was register on 09-nov-2000 by a Japanese company;
then [ にほんご.com] register on 10-jul-2007
You may image How important is the dot NET in Japanese domain field.

Some IDNclub member have display their Japanese IDNs at this page -
http://idnclub.com/showthread.php?t=4087
if you interested, you may have a look...

Re: Japanese keywords in .net

A few unscientific (and probably a bit biased) polls here at IDNF concluded that .net would probably have maybe 10%
the value of a .com. For top generic keywords, cities etc. that can still be a substantial return on investment.

I can't see any mention about $15, all I see is if you buy 2 IDNs, the price is $40. Does that mean if you buy 1, the price will be $20 or do you have to buy 2 to get that price?

If you go ahead and check out you will be refunded the difference.

Click the 2 for 1 link. If you only want 1 domain, enter it in BOTH boxes, although you will pay for 2 names, they will refund you the difference.

Re: Japanese keywords in .net

i like them. and there are many japanese who do, too.
in fact, in certain genres, it appears that some ppl prefer .net to .com.
however, in other genres, .net seems be disliked by many.

Do you mind elaborating on which genres ?

Good post, thanks for sharing information on the Japanese market.
Like Genius1 posted, can you elaborate a bit about genres.

Re: Japanese keywords in .net

actually, i deliberately chose not to elaborate on this one.
the reason is simple.
i would like some decent .net left for japanese people (including me) to reg later.

remember? Japanese IDNs were invented for people with Japanese language skills.

Ryu - I had to comment on this thread, as I had a sudden case of Deja Vu.

Back in early 2006, a similar comment was made regarding Japanese .com's... eg. "leave some for the natives, or the market will never start properly"

My take on this.. nobody when faced with an opportunity and the means will sit back and leave for someone else.. so while I agree with you, i also think it is naive to think it would happen.

Also, bear in mind that it took over a decade for the english .com space to be picked clean to the tune of tens of millions of domains.

bottom line: there will be plenty for everyone... maybe not the one word dictionary generics, but certainly meaningful terms that you just couldn't get these days in english - and that make so much more sense because it will be in a native tongue.

The most effective way to help your compatriots secure the names they will need is to get on the Japanese Blogs and Forums and educate them about IDN.
