i hate to say this, but calling カーズ a katakana version of cars is a bit misleading. クルマ is the right way to spell car(s) in katakana.

カーズ is an English word forcibly written in Katanaka. and it is a name of a disney movie, too.

in fact, if you show me カーズ written in katakana without "cars" in blanket, i would wonder what it means.
