And the price just today shot through the damned roof here in .fi

1.22 EUR/litre diesel
1.40 EUR/liter bensin

That marks an immediate increase of about 0.16 EUR per liter. To put this into perspective, this makes bensin (normal unleaded gasoline) 8.18 USD per gallon at the current exchange rates.

Re: $100 oil.

Probably still cheaper than Britain!

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...icle642354.ece

MOTORISTS were facing more misery on the forecourt this New Year as petrol prices soared to a new high today.

The cost of a litre of petrol at the pumps is now 103.3p - beating the previous record of 102.92p set on Boxing Day.

And the situation is set to worsen – driving road users to despair.

Crude oil has risen above 98 dollars a barrel for the first time since November thanks to US stockpiles falling for SEVEN weeks in succession and concern over violence in oil-producing Nigeria.

The AA said that diesel was now costing 107.95p a litre - just off the record of 108.00p set on December 6 2007.

Oil prices rose by more than 50 per cent last year and the price hikes have also hampered the Bank of England’s efforts to keep a lid on inflation.

Don't be fooled on fuel, use this handy Fuel C

Small open economies usually get hit with import inflation faster than most.

Re: $100 oil.

Thing is we tax heavily to encourage good fuel economy and a green environment. It is good for the economy to husband valuable resources carefully.

In the States they take a different view. They think increasing tax revenue will screw the economy. They don't worry too much about raising taxes, because when Bush runs out of money, he simply prints some more!

"Hevonpaska" as we say in Finnish, but what you said is the government's "story line".

Take the vehicle tax law in Finland, for example.

1. Bensin car - not much yearly car tax but the bensin is taxed to hell and back

2. Diesel car - high yearly car tax (based on transport capacity + engine power) but the diesel has much less taxation

3. Any other vehicle with an engine or motor - cold fusion, battery, water powered, etc - all of these must pay the "Diesel tax" based on transport capacity + engine power.

You can clearly see from #3 that the gov doesn't give a shit about being green, other than green in their pocket.

Re: $100 oil.

My site is #3 on Yahoo for oil price prediction, lol. Traffic spike.
Also #5 for dollar prediction on Google. Was #1 for a while.

If you want to post an article, sent it my way. You *WILL* get traffic!

Yes, my car with 3.2 liter diesel engine gets 5.7 liters per 100km (41.2mpg). It's amazing for a full sized car. And then there is the diesel tax... about 1000 usd per year.
