Re: What happened to Olney
Anyone in Japan know how to get ahold of Craigs comedian friends DownTown & Kokoriko. They might be able to solve this mystery.

Well, I suspect that he's just said screw it. I think Ryu has been in regular contact with him because of his comments regarding "not the right time, he might appreciate offers to buy the forum, etc".. In fact, I think that Olney gave Ryu the admin password and asked Ryu to turn off the manual approve mode.
Really, I think he's just said screw it.

Re: What happened to Olney
Perhaps we could have a bit more concern for Craig himself and a little less focus on the fate of the forum?

I agree. I actually am rather worried about Craig.
I just don't think that it is his style to just say "screw it" and not tell anyone or provide for the future of the forum. He was alive as of Dec 31 as he did send a happy new year's message via mixi.

I agree with Rhys. He renewed クレイグナイン.JP (CraigNine.jp) expiry date was 2008/01/31, but was renewed to 01/31/2009.
Not sure what exact day that renewal actually occured, or even if it was set on auto-renew.
Maybe a Japanese speaker can google "クレイグナイン" and see if there is any news articles etc. in the Japanese press
that might give us some clues. This is indeed a baffling situation.

Re: What happened to Olney
ゴールド.com
Expiration Date: 2009-02-08
Creation Date: 2006-02-08
Last Update Date: 2008-02-01
this is at domainsite, and was renewed a few days before it expired.
and unless i'm mistaken, domainsite do not have an auto-renew feature
edit: from Ds FAQ:
g. Can I get a refund and/or cancel services if I don't need my domain anymore?
Domain name registrations cannot be canceled.
We do not auto-renew domain registrations. Unless you actively renew your names, they will expire and be deleted. Once a domain has been registered, the terms of registration cannot be cancelled for any reason.
So - conclusion - he ain't dead, he does have access to the internet and still has interest enough to renew names - but isn't hanging around here anymore.
WTF

I can't see an auto renew feature in my account and assume it's not avilable at DS, So, Olney should be ok then, I hope, let's all hope so and carry away our discords at least for now guys

I posted my replay before your edit alpha, then there is no auto-renew with DS, assuming the guy is right them

Do you have any idea what company Craig works for? Maybe worth a call.

Nice alternative. But can it be always online? Can there be created subrooms (like subforums)? History, etc...

Re: What happened to Olney
Here's the question that this raises for me: Do I have a personal friend that hangs out at the forums that I hang out at, or knows how to operate the business that I've started and do I have a contingency plan for them, should something bad happen on the highway?
The answer is no.
And it's terrifying. I'm doing it for other people that don't even know about it.
How about you? Do your loved ones have your login credentials?
