There is very little that is actually OK about this forum. The commonly held view to the contrary just demonstrates an underlying lack of lucid reasoning!

Then why contribute 10K messages and the times that goes with it?

There are things wrong with the forum, that's for sure, but what keeps it afloat is the quality of (some of the) contributions from around the world. That is extremely hard to replicate, as people have found out.

my only question is if olney has disappeared, who is keeping the db etc. running. Forums (especially this one) don't tend to run for very long without maintenance...

Maybe, but my guess is he got just slightly more apathetic than he already was.

Also, the ASCII crowd seem to be blog weary now, so I guess they wouldn't have bothered anyway!
