But it just shows how much many of the names people are turning up their noses at could eventually go for!

Good Point , i would suspect there is a unbelievable amount of "brandables" left in the IDN sector.

Re: Rick sells iReport for $750k

http://del.icann.org/node/60
Start: 11 Feb 2008 - 15:00

End: 11 Feb 2008 - 19:00

Room:
Durbar Hall

What is it:
This workshop is held as a public consultation to receive input from relevant stakeholders on topics that need to be dealt with under the fast track approach for the introduction of a limited number of IDN ccTLDs. The working group (IDNC WG) tasked with developing this work is comprised of members of the GNSO, ccNSO, GAC, ALAC, SSAC, the technical community and ICANN staff. The IDNC WG is following the timeline outlined in the charter for the group that was resolved by the ICANN Board during the ICANN meeting in LA - per this timeline the Initial Report is anticipated to have been published by the time of the workshop and consultation on this report will hence be the core topic for the workshop.

Why it's important:
The fast-track process aims at the introduction of a limited number of IDN ccTLDs within a short time frame in order to:
- meet near-term demand
- gain experience in dealing with IDNs as ccTLDs, and
- inform the country code policy development process (IDN ccPDP was launched on 2 October 2007)
The consultation in this workshop will assist IDNC WG to define the topics that need to be addressed under the fast track approach

Who should attend:
All relevant stakeholders with an interest in the continued IDN development and in particular those with a near-term demand that the fast track approach is aiming at covering. For example,
. Government representatives and policy makers
. ccTLD managers & GNSO constituencies members with an interest in IDNs in general and IDNccTLDs in particular
. Technical community and specialists in IDNs . end-users

when was the last 750k idn sale and further more how many significant idn sales since 1997 or hell ever? anyone here happen to be making what rick makes a year with idns ? there is no need to say "i own better idns" when at the moment they are barely worth a piss in the ocean compared to the "crap" ascii names that are selling?

if ireport is short and memorable and a company wanted it seems like a good formula for a nice sale to me

Well, that's true, as a OMO for domains, he would make more money focusing on squeezing the max dollars out of American corps than register idns.

Re: Rick sells iReport for $750k

Rick is simply giving a slight glimpse of the full potential.

Of course, he can't see that is what he is doing.

In Rick's terms he made a good buy and a good sale. And in my terms $750K is still a lot of cash at the moment.

And besides, we don't know what he wants the cash for. All I know is that some of my negotiations are being passed through intermediaries. I don't know who the real buyers are. Even if the household names were buying, do you really think they would make it obvious who they were?
