http://dnjournal.com/archive/lowdown...s/01-17-08.htm
The big question is, will we see a repeat of what analysts are now calling Rick-mobi-syndrome with squillions of inames regged
how long will it be before we see:

Happened ages ago! They all followed Rick on this one.
Sadly he thinks these are Generics. I classify them as Brandables.

Re: Rick sells iReport for $750k
this is a normal but not a usual sale
it only happens when big fish badly wants a domain
we hope to see those big fish here one day
news.com (arabic) fits CNN very well
especially they have a site dedicated for arabic news

Re: Rick sells iReport for $750k
imagine the IDN portfolio you could put together with $750k
Personally I think the buyer should have given the money to the Snows, they would have gotten domains that were ALL better than iAnything.com

don't be so sure about that. It might get you a very small selection of the true tier 1 names, but thats it. Believe me, if the last few weeks have taught me anything it's that.

Re: Rick sells iReport for $750k
iReport is a TM from CNN now and Rick cybersquatted it up to $750k!
Only because he had the domain prior to them creating that feature.
Well done? I doubt it.
eReport is worth $750 (I know it because I have sold eBroklyn recently)
That tells you how fair this was!

Traffic increase has increased the resistance to sell.
But i would expect that this situation may change towards the end of this year or maybe next year only. With slumping asset prices, flippers might want to buy that house at half price, or one third price, etc. You can't live in a domain...

Well those that buy this year are going to be disappointed if they think property is going to bounce back next year. This cycle is going to take ten years to play out and things are going to be pretty flat for the first five. No you can't live in a domain but you can rent. Also moving up is tough in a recession because it the property at the bottom that just won't sell. There is just so much of it and Sellers cannot drop prices because banks won't let them sell below the value of the debt. At the top end it is mainly cash deals so things are a little more flexible.

10 years is a conservative estimate. You mean people are going to invest in mortgage bonds again? Not this generation.

I think that prices will stabilize after the traffic becomes regular - no more of this guessing that "in 2 years, my domain which gets zero visits per month today will get hundreds of thousands of visitors per day". Reality will set in and prices will adjust for most names. That still doesn't mean that tier1 names will be cheaper for anybody who is initiating offers.

"I Report" had a very direct meaning and is a totally "brandable" term as duck said.
It is used as a website for viewers to submit first person video tape and breaking news, etc.
The site has been a success as many people can report "I Report" where they are on the scene before news crews get there.
They have been successful with this, especially getting footage off cell phones with emergencies, bridge collapses etc.
"E Report" just doesn't work for this purpose and is a distant second in comparison.
Good for Rick for hitting a home run IMO.

2 years is too short a time, most of us here have already waited 2 years, some 3.

The number of years was just an example, not the point.

Hey pal, we already have enough trouble in the industry with the media falsely labelling domain investors as cybersquatters, without effing domainers doing it as well.
Now, apologise or I'm gonna come over to Portugal and slap some sense into you.

LOL. I would love you coming here! I hope one day you and all my friends here will! We *WILL* party as hell!
I have to be honest with you, I have a problem with Rick:
The man dresses like a failed rock star bum of the seventies.
Please, he urgently needs an image consultant. He is our king, for God sake!
