I don't mean to be a doomsday talker, in fact please correct me - I would love it.

I bought a few IDNs around four years ago and, despite all the promise, to me it has obviously not taken off and there are no signs that it will.

There are too few big sales (if you don't include the standard alphabet with accents e.g. Spanish, German etc.) of IDNs and it seems not much uptake in local markets.

So I'm in a quandry now - do I sell for what I can, because the value might even go down shortly, or do I hang in for what I see as a long shot?

Please prove me wrong

What languages are your idns in? My thai idns seem to be doing pretty good now.

in short...
99% of the world doesn't start to understand what a domain is.
0.99999999999% know idns exist.

When 10% of the world would know a little more then "a domain is the thing for the site" would be the time you would know you did good with your investment, assuming you wont sell your portfolio today for 1k.

I think we'll have a much better idea when they finalize implementation details on IDN.IDN, including if IDN.com/.net will be mapped - hopefully (and supposedly) within the next 6 to 12 months. I got my best IDNs in 2000 and 2001, so my waiting has been a little longer than yours.

Read up on the goings on at ICANN with IDNs and you will probably conclude to hold into 2009 is the smart way to go.
You don't see too many people here dumping IDNs do you? That should be a big clue.

No need to be in a quandary, sell them!

Let say you paid $70 to reg 10 domains in 2003, you should get at least $7,000 if you sell them now (100 times of your regfee is a very conservative estimation). If your domains don't worth 100 times of your regfee, you should spend your time on something else. IDN investment is not for everybody.

Better doing something that you have confidence.
