It amazes me how all of you jump to conclusions from a couple of pictures. Be patient, time will tell who was right.

Markits: Yes, i've been to China countless times, but mostly Shanghai because the family owns several properties there.

This is the reason I always emphasize that one needs to live in China to gain an insight knowledge and facts about the thingy of com vs cn. The public awareness of com is so high there. The phrase "dot com" means everything internet related. It is really hard to change the already formed public knowledge and habit. CNNIC has tried very hard to push in the use of cn. But so far it has been not very successful. IDN.cn will have a future and perhaps rank higher than idn.net, that is for sure, but it will not be a rival of idn.com.

Does google has power in China? Google paid $1m for Google.cn?

I was kind of expecting you might come up with a few examples of dot CN being used to promote major companies offline?

So you just like my kids, who were born overseas and have been visiting China occassionally. We call you people "bananna", yellow skin outside but white inside.

I personally am often frustrated that my kids don't have enough Chinese knowledge.

I disagree, this really has nothing to do with whether you are an overseas or mainland chinese.

I'm open to investing in .cn, but i only worry what will happen if they really become valuable! At least for .com, i can use a lawyer.

We prefer to be called overseas Chinese.

"You people"? Don't make this a personal issue Markits. We are very clear where you stand on the .com vs. .cn issue.

From the context of my post you should easily figure out "you people" means "your generation".

Yup, the numeric domains are at stake. Who use numbers when you can use real names!
