Come on, I just regged today two products with such overtures. Why should I pay 300$ for smth I can get for regfee.

OK, I decided not to buy anything. Ryu's domains were regged in this year, so I guess if I am lucky, I can also reg domains like this .

Please don't understand me wrong.
Until now, what i could reg is with overture not more than 15 000. So here is what i thought: if 15000 ovt is still available, that is anybody can get it for regfee, then for 300$ I can get a pretty good domain with OVT more than 25000. But it seems that it is not like this.
And then I find out that Ryu could register a good domain with 20000 OVT just about a month ago.
Consequently, I decide not to buy anything, because what is sold for 300$ is still available for regfee if u search hard, and of course I don't think that it is only me who can find such domains.

This resembles to me a situation with gold miners, when although for gold miners gold doesn't cost much because it is freely available, but still the price for it is high. In this situation gold miners would not buy gold from each other.

This is how I see it.

You are right.

A good name only needs to be convincing and have terms which relate to some commercial value. It doesn't even need to be a very short name - sometimes longer is better.

Also, "OVT" type of measurement tools are not very accurate. They should only be used as a guide. I have several minisites where the domain name itself has no OVT,
no Google Trends, etc, yet they get hundreds of visitors per day.

I think that OVT is the most important factor for type-in traffic. That is why I need a good name anyway.
Because developed sites are not judged by the name, but by the contents.

Yes, especially for Japanese I have found this to be true. A name with something line 1.2 million OVT getting 6-8 type-ins per day. Disgusting!

Just because people search for something a lot doesn't necessarily mean that they will type it in. It's a real art to understand which domains will get type-in, and don't expect anybody to ever reveal that knowledge to you at any price.

By itself it doesn't say anything to me because I need to compare it with something. If u then can give an example of a domain with 6-8 OVT and 1.2 million type-ins per day, that would be very convincing .

Because it is said that japanese domains don't get much type-in anyway.

I don't have any statistics, because all my sites are parked only for around 1 month, but still I tend to think that type-in increased in this period.
