Re: Secret .mobi fan spotted and revealed!

Touchring has nothing to with any of my investments , i just asked you how long A.U has been rolling out , and that idn has technically been in motion for 10 years but like yanni said you cant buy a concept car , so all that touchring and investment talk irrelevant.

Anyway, if you want to follow bullshit Gurus like Touchring. You go ahead. He has been enticing you all to buy Silver all week, but has clearly never heard of the Hunt's. If you want to back you investment decision with that kind of expertise, stay in your little ghetto and absorb all the bullshit that is going for all I care.

Refreshing.
Well, ludicrous is ludicrous whichever way you cut it!

We have the same dilemma as the dot Mobi people. Big Business will either back the kinds of domains we are invested in or it won't. This is all about herd psychology. They will either stampede in our direction or they won't. They are not just going to aimlessly stroll over one at a time during the course of the next millennium.

And don't don't come back and start talking about domainers developing out the name space. That really is complete bollocks.

I don't think it's a question of following any gurus; it's about following instinct coupled with some experience (personal or second-hand) and some common sense, without prejudice.

You seem to want to will it to happen, while others seem to be comfortable with it's natural progression.

Just like ascii did, in the course of the past 10 years or so.

Ouch:

Most large corps have already bought into the concept. They already own the names. Many of them have even built Websites. What is missing is the offline advertising. Once that comes onstream things will move very quickly. They won't spend millions of dollars doing the big promotions for a slowly building trickle. As I said, it will either happen or it won't and if it is going to happen, it must happen soon. If you cannot see that, then you might as well go and bark at the Moon.

RD, you of all people should have definite proof that the "slowly, but surely" scenario has been playing out for the last several years.

We have for several years been struggling to reach critical mass.

Keep piling small pieces of Plutonium on top of one another, and see what happens.

As I described here previously, it is like aligning all the tumblers of a lock. The door won't open until the last one is in place.

At some point in time, a big corporate will sanction a big spend budget, or no perhaps no corporate will ever do it. Big corporates are not going to piss about spending a few thousand on advertising here and there. If they go for IDN rebranding, they will do it big time. You will just have to wait and see, but we are not talking about maturing scotch whisky here!

Which brings back memories of around the beginning of last year and your statement that April would be the "make or bust point" for idn. (obviously tying idns success to M$7)

It's been over a year now, and no bust, no make. Just natural uptake, as some of us
here in this discussion had told you we believed it would be another two to four years if not more.

Well there you go defeating your own arguments again.

Until we got AU there was no "natural" uptake. It didn't start to happen until MS started forcing it.

Yes, I am about a year or two out with my estimates, because I was fed information that was about a year or two out by Microsoft. Yes, I am human. I sometimes make the mistake of listening to others and trusting them.

Re: Secret .mobi fan spotted and revealed!

You mean your traffic was flat before then? You must be joking, right?

No-one said that ms au wouldn't help things. I'm saying it won't be an explosion of the type you're describing, any time soon.

There are more than one factors that will bring this thing around; not just ie7 for crying out loud.

As for the corporate world, let them figure out ascii/internet/advertising first, yet.

Re: Secret .mobi fan spotted and revealed!

No you are missing the point. The thing that created the dot com type in boom was large corps advertising their sites offline with ASCII.com URLs.

IE7 is the key because A) the traffic won't resolve without it and B) the large corps won't advertise URLs that won't resolve for what should be fairly obvious reasons.

Maybe large corps have not got the Generic dot com thing, but they did get the URL advertising thing from day one. From where I am standing they seem to be less confused than you are!

And yes we are seeing slow incremental growth. So far the indications for March are that we will be 50% to 100% up on February, but we are not really looking for that kind of slow incremental growth.

Funny, I always thought it was people getting fed up with search engine spam.

I've been seeing the same for the past 6 months now.

Bull! Online PORN created the "Type-In".
Corporations created the "Internet Bubble" if you recall.

Corps are slowly getting there, but they're dragging their feet. Their online-to-print media advertising ratio could be an eye-opener for you.

Do you have any predictions for THIS April?

But, anyway, what do I know?

Just like my signature says...

Well, in that case we are screwed in most of our major markets, as Porn is going to be censored in an awful lot of them.

The only thing I really know about the Internet commerce is that the UK is outstripping the US in gross sales. Not sales per head but TOTAL sales.

Yes, but I don't think you can put it Type In down to a reaction against search. It is much more likely that a lot it is down to being completely clueless!
