aimé.net - (love.net) - 16.9Million on French google

xn--aim-dma.net (aimé.net)

The .com version is being dropped soon but it's already reserved. There, the word "aimé" is listed as...just went to IDNTools but it's not letting me log in and that's where I saw it being dropped. It was listed as very high on all stats.

$2500 (somewhat negotiable)

Remember, all you need is aimé!

Re: aimé.net - (love.net) - 16.9Million on French google

before i answer, i edited my original post b/c my friend here who also is involved in IDNs told me that i was listing it as way too low. so see the new price....but I am negotiable as I said.

on IDNTools, you can click on "status" of the domains being dropped, and one of the words that comes up is "reserved." (as opposed to "free") I assume it means backordered, that someone is already first in line to buy it. But that's my guess, I don't know for sure.

Re: aimé.net - (love.net) - 16.9Million on French google

it's the past tense of the verb aimer:

je aime
tu aimes
il/elle/on aime
nous aimons
vous aimez
ils/elles aiment

j'ai aimé: I loved

Re: aimé.net - (love.net) - 16.9Million on French google

"Love" is "l'amour."

"Aimé" would mean (my translation, not a native speaker) "beloved." Masculine form. So it would refer to a beloved person who is male.

"Aimée" is feminine form, IIRC the source of our name Amy.

And yes, also specifically past participle in "I have loved."

Re: aimé.net - (love.net) - 16.9Million on French google

Thanks for the info :o
On a side note: Why does French/Latin/Spanish like to differentiate between male/female form (for not just animals but also objects)? Is there any evolutionary advantage in doing that?

How about the other languages? German, Japanese, Russian, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Arabic, Korean?

Chinese and English I know to be free of this twist.

Many languages do this. In Russian, it's masculine, feminine, and neuter.

In six cases.

Cool Wiki page on gender grammar:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammat...pean_languages

It seems all major European languages has grammatic gender, except English. I'm sure glad of
that!

Japanese like Chinese has no gender. Yet I remember hearing that Japanese men and woman talk
differently, maybe it's just pronunciation of names?

Re: aimé.net - (love.net) - 16.9Million on French google

That's why "love" is much more valuable. It's all in one (all verb, noum).

That's why one will be better betting on the languages one master.

I am used to this anyway. That's why I am very carefull with Russian offers, a language I don't master, but that I know has the same problem.

Re: aimé.net - (love.net) - 16.9Million on French google

Sorry LMG for using your thread for this side discussion.
It kinda grew...

Is there any simple rule in Russian about what is feminine or masculine?
Do most nouns have both feminine and masculine forms?

For example, in Spanish, it's easy, because any noun ending with "a"
is feminine, and vice versa. And most nouns have only one form,
while adjectives have 2 forms.

In Japanese there is no grammatical gender as there as is very common in Indo-European langugaes. Japanese is on one hand rather pleasant because there are no plurals to worry about, no declensions of nouns, or gender. The difficulty of Japanese is learning to use the correct level of politeness for every occasion one finds oneself in. Men and women do use slightly different language but this is only slightly more exaggerated than we would find in other languages like English.
