I was watching a video on a Shanghai blog about the rise in popularity of Texas Holdem in China and figured I'd check out the Chinese domain name.

If I'm correct it's this, literally meaning Texas Poker

What do you think, worth the gamble?

What is the deal with gambling websites in China though?
Can you even have websites that people just play "for fun"?

It's, from what I understand from the video, still a not so clear area. Officially gambling is forbidden in China as far as I know (Besides the government authorized lotteries) but it happens everywhere.

Just walking in the streets in Shanghai you see people play mahjang or cards for money. I never played Texas Holdem and I don't know how much luck is involved and how much skill.

I checked some of the websites that Baidu gives on this search and they are not blocked and, also from the video, some players mention they play online as well so I imagine it's there. Playing for fun should be part of this as well. But, I'm no expert here at all, just a domain speculator

never heard of the game, but playing for fun is definitely ok
