Is Paypal about to kill IE6?

Web payment firm Paypal has said it will block "unsafe browsers" from using its service as part of wider anti-phishing efforts.

Customers will first be warned that a browser is unsafe but could then be blocked if they continue using it.....

Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2 and Opera 9 have phishing filters, but Apple's browser -- Safari -- does not. Safari also does not support Extended Validation SSL (Secure Socket Layer) Certificates, issued to Web sites that have been vetted as legitimate.

Well, that could force upgrade in Australia since Australia can't use Ebay anymore unless they pay with Paypal. This is a pilot program and may be expanded to other countries.

I think this could be the way things are going. It may be that the big banks will follow.

From this it looks as though Safari is going to be blacklisted, so IE6 is almost certainly for the chop!
