And How about this for Hypocracy!

Standard & Poor's cut the outlook on the country's debt ratings to negative from stable, saying Lousteau's resignation ``reflects the government's rejection of policies to correct the country's overheating economy.''

Not being a native and never really having done Latins, I have never had to worry about Type-In errors but thanks for your concern. :p

It might be a little premature. Obama is likely to make things ten times worse, and Clinton although the best of the candidates does not frankly have to kind of leadership that America needs right now. Democracy, is a wonderful thing, but the US version, at least means that you end up with inept showmen(women) for Presidents that are totally incapable of providing the kind of leadership that the nation needs. One of China's strength is that they are not afraid to take unpopuluar decisions in order to maintain the economic health of the nation. Of course it is highly unusual that a non-democratic regime can make the right decisions. However, they seem to have some bloody good economists on board, and those guys are being listened to above all else. Yes, they intervene in markets, but they are doing it in a very positive way. They are certainly not bribing the populus to win elections.

Re: And How about this for Hypocracy!

Its a different world on this side of the water. The president is really just a pawn if you will that is supposed to represent the like mind of the congress and in as much the people. When elected he/she has the ability to appoint "members" to oversee different branches of the government. By doing this he is supposed to bring in his ideas and maintain his theory on how to improve the system.

It dosent always work. In the case of this last president, I think he brought in his drinking buddies.

To really size up a candidate one has to look at the cabinet that he/she is going to appoint. Obamah just dosent have it. We just dont have the time for a new staff to learn how to run the country while making mistakes. McCain is an idiot... Hes a spend a holic with the theory that you give money to the big guys and they will put it into the economy. Yeah right...

I hate to say it but I think that Hillary is probably best suited for the job, but the Clintons are not well received. Big business does not like them. Gore actually won the election a bit back and the country would have been in much better shape if that had happened.
It was only a handfull of politicians that aided in the "computer glitches" Strange enough in the state that Bush's brother was Gov. that cost him the election. I am almost positive there will be another "glitch" of some kind if Hillary makes it to the podium....

Re: And How about this for Hypocracy!

The Democrats are bound to win.

The Republicans hopes are resting purely on the stimulus package working.

I will tell you know that if the Saudis had funded it as gift with no repayments and no strings, $150Billion would not be anything like enough to paper over the cracks.

As it is Bush is just spending money he ain't got. And do that is likely to lead to more trouble not less. But in any case it is not a spit in the bucket.

The only options left to them now, due to the lateness of the hour is cut interest rates further and hope the hell that works, but it basically won't because it doesn't actually solve anyone's problems. Sure it would be nice to get cheap loan, but the bottom line is nobody is lending to those that need it most. Must of the money will end up in Asia and Eastern Europe.

The main problem is that US corporate balance sheet are full of red ink. And where things are better the money is coming in from overseas. However, even if major US corporates are doing well on foreign earnings they are unlikely to reinvest in the US unless they can see a good return. Those companies that are making money will trim their workforces in the States just the same as those that do not have the benefit of foreign earnings. And don't be fooled by those increase in exports. Much of that will be dumping of excess production that cannot shift in the domestic market.

The real problem is going to come when tax receipts dry up and social benefit costs soar due to rising unemployment.

Re: And How about this for Hypocracy!

Very good example. Most Americans appear to have difficulty distinguishing between electing a Leader and selecting a beauty queen. I think they must use the same part of the Cortex that is primarily involved for American Idol.

Friggin' hilarious

Another of my favorites
"Is Europe a country?"

BTW, Dave, hypocrisy is a Greek word - not Latin.

No wonder I am having problems spelling it. It wouldn't make a very good Domain Keyword for English content then I guess! :p
