Re: Inviting people over to the new place
It ain't about MJ or anyone else's ego or "following".
If this was the case, most people here would have flocked over to DnLocal and stayed there a loong time ago, since, from what I understand, most people got here because of you to begin with.
It ain't just about auctions or sales either. All that stuff will come in good time.
It's simple really. People need to have a place to network, shoot the breeze, exchange ideas and all that good stuff.
It just needs to be a user friendly so people can be comfortable.
So far, MJ seems to be doing a great job trying to fill this particular need.
Brain power comes first. Personalities come second.

A member PMed me the url. The only Chinese face I saw over there is the one who had been accused of "shill" or fraudulent activities by MJ. Apparently he was invited by MJ to there.

Re: Inviting people over to the new place
Well some of it at least is about busting a bollock for the community and still ending back at square one. I done it twice now and I ain't about to do it again and certainly not for MJ. If he wants content then he will have to do it himself. In the meantime, he will have to keep popping back here to try to recruitment Noobies, because they are not going to find their way to his place for a bit.

Are you talking about hangman21? I never accused him of shill bidding, that was Olney and Seamo handling that case. I simply pointed out that when he had rejoined here with a new handle.
I did not so far invite hangman21 over to the new place.

This isn't about tricking anyone. The newer versions of vb will auto-expire your session (it sets session cookie expiration times). People complained about having to relogin every 15 minutes.
For now, I set the session cookie to 1 week, so a member will remain in the list unless he logs out, for up to 1 week. We are discussing a reasonable value for this setting now.
There are a good many posts and discussions that you won't see unless you are a premium member. That's because at this time with the birth of the site, I am engaging the premium membership in the definition of the policies that will be used to manage the site. The other content will come, and we are in no hurry for it.
There are people who would simply like to see you over there, 10k posts or only 10. It has nothing to do with content building. Come when you feel like it.

NOW I know who you are talking about and I remember the incident.
Yes, if it happens again then it won't be tolerated.
But even hangman21 will be welcomed - I think he is very aware that people are watching for this sort of activity (I am not sure that he even did what he was accused of - shill bidding).

Re: Inviting people over to the new place
What a bunch of whiners...
Many of the IDNers here asked for a VBulletin site with "active" MODs and someone onboard that would keep the site up and running.
NO ONE stepped up to fill the plate! For a l-o-n-g time.
After many discussions and numerous more times that IDNF was down and DNL stating flatly they were staying with the SM platform, Mike finally stepped up to the plate and offered to do it IF people would chip in the hard costs. Thats how and why this all happened. I don't think he deserves criticism for delivering on what members here asked for and wanted to see happen if IDNF could not be "fixed".
What is all the fuss about?? No one is forced to go there, be there or even visit.

Bill, these posts are little more than political rhetoric, and I am not really interested in engaging in politic discussions - only a platform where we can be happy to be, just like Yanni said a few posts back.
I am not interested in promoting the agendas of elitist people, groups, or cliques, either. I am an egalitarian and that's one principle that I won't compromise on.

Egalitarianism (derived from the French word égal, meaning equal) is a political doctrine that holds that all people should be treated as equals from birth. Generally it applies to being held equal under the law and society at large.

Funny, we never had these kind of issue with that "bloody awful" SMS programme we used to run. It just gave the user the option.

Might just be something I missed so far, I've been busy. I am not going to engage in a technical debate, either.
We've made our move. You can either join us or stay here and chat with yourself.

Actually, i don't care, it's just a forum. No need to get upset over it.
No one else was willing to do it, MJ made the first real move, the Americans think he should be given the credit, even though it was opportunistic. What to do? LOL.

So you hanging out with them to see if they will invest their tax rebates? Got news for you. It all gone on gas prices increases. Ah, well better luck next time.
Truth is they all wanted to get away from the Duck because most of them cannot face up to the truth. Duck's insistence of telling them how it is has proved deeply offensive to their national pride. That is the bottom line. Ah, well. You can run but you cannot hide!
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...o9c&refer=home
"The U.S. probably lost jobs for a fourth month as the collapse in construction and a slowdown in consumer spending almost stalled growth, economists said before reports this week.
Payrolls fell by 78,000 in April, based on the median forecast in a Bloomberg News survey before the Labor Department's May 2 report. Figures two days earlier may show the economy expanded at a 0.4 percent annual pace from January through March, the smallest gain in five years.
``Despite our forecast for positive growth in the first quarter, we believe the economy has formally slipped into a recession,'' said Ethan Harris, chief U.S. economist at Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. in New York. ``Given the headwinds from the housing and credit markets, we expect spending to remain weak through the end of 2009.'' Harris projects a 0.7 percent growth rate for the first three months of the year.
Economists forecast spending rose last quarter at the slowest pace in 13 years as the loss of jobs, increase in food and energy costs, and drop in property values hurt confidence. The Federal Reserve may lower the benchmark interest rate by a quarter-point to try to stem further erosion in the growth.
The Labor Department's employment report may also show the jobless rate rose to 5.2 percent this month, the highest level in three years.
Factory payrolls fell by 35,000, according to the survey median. Construction firms, retailers and financial-service businesses may also have cut jobs......"
Well we are gradually getting there. The denials are progressively weaker each time. It is only a matter of time before the nerves on Wall Street crack, and the wheels fall off.

Word, all said .....
MJ
you know what? just save your time dude! you have a lot of work to do and these debates isn't useful neither useless! it will just eat your time which you really need now to finish the good work so far.
Bill said it all, IMHO, none have the right to insult your action since what you made is what people asked for and contributed to bring up to light, if anyone wants to discuss, insult ...etc or whatever say, then simply go to the older threads here where people were complainting and asking for a stable forum running on VB and discuss things up, insulat, take an action, create a new forum ...etc, JUST go there, start at that point and see what was requested by almost each IDNer, what was the reaction and what finally MJ volunteered to do and see if you should attack or thank!!! or simply be ashamed of yourself!!!!!
This is nothing against anyone or to defend MJ, I personally don't have anything against anyone and MJ isn't in a need to my defense, just a word that should be said!
As MJ said in a thread at the new home, everyone is welcomed to join, and let's just say Welcome to whoever decided to join us, all are welcomed
and BTW, if anyone thinks the new place have nothing valued!! wake up! people who put up the valued posts here are the same people and the same minds and experience, although the place is opened for just days now, but it's hyper active and super productive, if you see nothing there then you should learn how to read or go and buy yourself a glasses!
have a nice day guys

Re: Inviting people over to the new place
If it so bloody wonderful over there, why are you spending so much time over here?
And by the way, I don't need moralization from a known cyber-squatter. Get back in your glass house.
Yes, and lets get one more thing straight. Bill was about the only one of you that had the decency to make such requests at the venue in question. The rest of you just babbled from a distance. That is not common courtesy. Did that really merit a response? Not only that migrating a forum is ten times more complicated than throwing up a virgin forum and it has a lot of unpredictable results. Jose actually did a magnificent job. A trained monkey can set up a virgin forum.
And you you think that I am actually bothered what you think? Not really, a good percentage of you you have been nothing but a pain in the bloody arse from day one. If this forum and that one goes down, it is going to make precious little difference to my ability to manage my portfolio. I don't see domain prices going through the roof at MJs forum any time soon.
Olney gave up the will to live, I have had a gut full, so did Alpha before me. And why exactly do you think that might be? And I wouldn't be surprise in MJ gets fed up with it all soon enough as well.

you may just need to deal with me or know me alittle more to discover who I'm, you may ask many of people here or anywhere else whom I once helped or deal with to know me more just if you care, to save up your time if you will to write this: (I don't care, I don't want to know you ....etc )
I don't spend time here since I don't have that much time to waste any more Sir, I had a transaction to finish here that's why I back to finish it, found the posts and just wanted to put my word.
I didn't meant you or anyone by name, I talked in general in general, and if you see my words apply on your actions, then you included!
