Either way, I still have other issues with investing in .cn development at this time. The legal regulations in general and more specifically over the Internet are far from transparent. No matter what precautions I would take the regulators could always find my web sites in violation if it served them. With .cn they could take the domain. With .com all they could do is block the site.
Do you remember correctly?I think you can reg again!(domain Available,But I think this domain nearly no value

You said too exaggerate!
take the domain? funny,which case?
I know you only <10 .cn domains,But you seem more worry about than china domainers(many own 100+ best .cn,include ascii.cn,Not including me
I think you no need worry too much.

It all depends on how much you pay for the name. I don't mind risk of confiscation if i pay only 180rmb for a name. lol

It's all a matter of price. I treat investing in IDN.cn similarly to investing in land in developing countries.

1. The land has to be cheap.

2. The government can take the land at will and offer nominal compensation at the most - the registration fee for domains.

3. The better the location of the land, the higher the risk of confiscation.

E.g. McDonalds forced to vacate its central Beijing store with 20 year lease to HK tycoon Li Kashing's property development company.

4. You invest in many small plots of land in different areas so that even if 90% got confiscated, you still have another 10%. You make money if the capital appreciation from the 10% exceeds your total acquistion cost.

My best IDN are .cn so I am certainly for them, but too risky for big investment development at this time.

Have you wondered why people are so quick at disposing the very top .cn names? Do you see that happening for .com?

But ascii.cn already proved,ascii.cn is safe&profitable!
Many single letter(ascii).cn used by big website, bought from china domainers.
