Virtually 100% of type-in traffic for Chinese domains is from China.

I've parked 47 domains at SC for about a week, based on the past 4 day's statistics, practically 99.999% of type-in traffic for Chinese domains is from China. And the few non-china traffic, i suspect, half are from me.

Origin: Visitors,Searches,Clicks,CTR
China Total: 864 1402 223 16%
Non-China Total: 10 0 0 0%

btw, does anyone knows what 'Searches' means?

I suspect there is some link-up with some indigenous search engine such as Baidu rather than Google. I sometimes get searches with Hits so I am guessing that somehow the results are being thrown up in searches before being clicked on rather than by direct type-in, but I am guessing. Some domains are currently getting 5K hits per month and click through rates is good, typically around 15%, but PPC is rather low.

what SC stands for? i dont like parking but it doesnt hurt to check... Edited: i found it http://www.silverclicks.com/

i guess at that speed of visitors, very soon you will get approved to get parking directly with Google. http://www.google.com/domainpark/ 750.000 visitors for all domains, i guess if u own several thousands in chinese IDNs, it doesnt have to be hard to reach that amount of visitors with that huge china population.

Re: Virtually 100% of type-in traffic for Chinese domains is from China.

CTR % on SC is actually based on searches instead of visitors, so searches might be the key stats.

I've 2 adult domains with about 100 clicks each the past 4 days. The other domains get much lesser hits.

Based on past 1 week statistics, i'm breaking even on reg fee on my total Chinese portfolio. I think i'll start working on getting the names listed on search engines and add keywords. Has anyone added keywords to domains on SC?

Thank you for sharing this info. I assume most of those 47 names are .coms? Or you have some .cns and .nets there as well?

Re: Virtually 100% of type-in traffic for Chinese domains is from China.

4 names that contribute 95% of traffic are .com adult names with US OVT 1000-3000, i do not have comparable .cn adult names.

Once i get a chance to park more names, i'll put out findings on how the extensions compare. In the meantime, i'll start to plan getting the domains indexed by search engines.

Food for thought - .jp get much less traffic than .com, but people place a higher premium on .jp, which isn't surprising since end users for japanese names come from Japan, and what does a japanese bank executive care about type-in traffic - he is buying the name and the jp extension. As for traffic, his bank's marketing department has the money and will be responsible for creating advertisements to attract the correct visitors.

I personally think .com is still the preferred extension for Chinese websites on a similar keyword comparison basis. Nevertheless, if you got 保险.公司, it is still worth more than 99.99% of Chinese .com.

SC seems to use US landing pages for IPs viewing pages outside China.

Does anyone have a screenshot of a local Chinese langing page?

I'll get it checked tomorrow, but based on anonymous proxies in China, english ads are shown, although the parking page format seems to be different.

So SC still shows English Ads to Native Chinese audience?

Well if they are they must be making up the CTR and paying out to save face. There is no way that English Adds would get the click through rates that are happening from IDN Type-In. It just wouldn't make sense.

That really depends, because up till now, we had no real experience with CTR with chinese users - sedo and namedrive are both blocked, giving us only 0.01% of actual traffic.

Also, Arabic names get 10-20% CTR on English ads.

It might also be possible that Chinese keyword must be defined for chinese ads to appear.

btw, tomorrow is my tomorrow - it will still be today for pacific time.

No, when I started parking at SC, all ads were Chinese ads and in Chinese. It took them more then 4 months to finally get some English ads for IPs outside China. I did save some Chinese landing pages but lost them now.

Thanks - great news! Now I have to figure out how to set up banks and so on...

BTW, touchring, how much of the Japanese-IDN traffic is from Asia vs Rest of the World?

Yes, did you receive that email from Candy? What's going on? I saw a few familiar email addresses, including jobcollect. How did jobcollect get onto SC so quickly? I think there's really no need to hide this way by using so many different aliases - it's not as though you have done something illegal, etc. And there are many people with much better names than you, Mr/Mrs Snow, TDC, etc.

But at least, from that email, we can know myself, sal, dave are not jobcollect. Who else is on SC and can't be identified yet.
