Re: Paris Snapnames Live Auction Results

I don't think it has had a very serious effect on the high rollers, but those that bank roll these conferences are often the helpless Noobies. I think in this instance, perhaps just not enough enthuisiasm from Europeans for something that appears to have been largely targeted at Americans. I mean what are you expected to think when most names are English Keywords on obscure largely none European ccTLDs and all priced in dollars. I mean why don't they just have some half naked cheer leaders drapped in the Stars and Stripes over a Sherman Tank tucking into MacDonald and Coke?

Re: Paris Snapnames Live Auction Results

David,

Your comments are spot on...

It would seem that an entity should try to go with a German, Spanish, Russian live auction for IDN's next year.

Trying to force US terms on low volume ccTLD's is a marketing failure of the first order in my opinion...

thanks...

Steve

Re: Paris Snapnames Live Auction Results

Yes, but I for one am no longer in a mood to put money in the pockets of those that have simply been taking the piss. By next year if there is ever going to be serious traffic it will already be rolling in. Who seriously cares what Moniker can offer next year? I plan today to get us Renewed until April 2009. It is frustrating but we will wait.

The problem is that the vast majority of American domainers have not been able to differentiate between what turns them on and what turns on buyers in specific markets. They just trade what has meaning to them personally. They simply have not been able to address the market in a detached analytical way.
