Not for domain names. Hanzi domains are more complicated than just Simplified and Traditional.

Not that I chose, I had no other choice. IDN domaining is more "tricky" than you think.

Most of the time as Touchring pointed out - they will only allow one version to be registered and 99.99% of the time block the other (I suspect it will be a long time to almost never, before they allow both to be registered separately, except in the very small number of cases where they have already made the mistake as their tables were in error). This is also true for the .tw and .hk names - one must choose which variant (but by default gets both and both resolve).
|
I did check with the director from verisign, the variant block is a permanent thing, there's no way you can swap a traditional version with a simplified version, unless you delete or drop the name, and then it's for all to catch. :o
In such a case, snap will probably get the traditional version before you can register the simplified version, whatever API u use.

Dare I ask what this means - and whose the guy with the dark long coat in the corner... haha
Just one very interested thing I did notice however - did you see the number of views on this thread compared to others (either their are a 1000 new members just waiting to join us here in idnforums (but little shy) or this term is being searched and hit on like crazy... never seen a new thread here, with so many hits in here, in such a short time!!!).
So suggests - what the heck on if it is Traditional or not - it is presently a useful term... so I guess it is now time for me to hit that link and check what you are doing with this IDN...
Cheers & good luck with developing / etc. of this IDN - Asiaplay

Re: 奥运会.com Olympics Chinese. Avail.
At that time in oct/nov, a lot of good chinese names were still available for registration, names that will go for a few hundred to a few thousands if snap were to catch them today. :o

The variant block doesn't always work all the time. So probably that guy registered the trad version when the simp version was taken. Then the simp version was dropped (no renew) and blocked.

These are the names I dropped, may be one of them. its meaning is "the translator". People don't search this term much, but it can be very brandable if you use it correctly.
I concentrated on my other work in the last 5 months and didn't even have time to take care of my domains. My business partner at home was supposed to renew all my names, but he forgot to do so. I have dropped a few hundred names.
I am still doing a lot of travelling. Life is a journey, and I am so enjoying the journey and somewhat forget life's destination.
Cheers!
