Question Why don't you report?!

The new weekly domain sales report is out at DNJournal.com. This wound up being the weakest week of the year. There are two likely reasons for that, one being the meltdown in the general economy and the other being the fact that nearly $5 million worth of domains were sold at the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. New York conference week before last, drawing a load of money out of the market at once. The top sale reported this week was under $30,000...

None of our IDNF sales were reported. Why?

Re: Why don't you report?!

At least one of last week's sales would've been in the top 5.

Re: Why don't you report?!

You'll be lucky to see a substantial sale not done completely by pm or email and with the buyer in anonymous whois, let alone reported.

The same goes with undervalued stocks, when Buffet buys, he buys quietly and everyone guesses what he buys.

Nevertheless, for all my sales, the buyer calls the shot on whether to have the sale reported.

Yes and no... if the company is a public issuer, as in this case:
http://www.nsxa.com.au/ftp/news/021719735.PDF

This company trades on the venture exchange in Australia and as such, must disclose all material transactions.

I work as a contractor for this company, and we were very excited to be able to secure this domain from Mr. Marquardt as it ties in beautifully with our Japanese horse racing and gaming project.

I am a long time reader (not poster) of these forums, and while there are many transactions you will never hear about, there are many that if you just look in the right place, you will find them.

Regards,
Brian D. Bisset

PS - I would also ask that you DO NOT contact my company or myself trying to sell your domain. It is not what we do. TIA

Re: Why don't you report?!

Just thinking out loud here (it's a lazy Sunday afternoon, it's a warm day, and I've had a few beers..) Funding for a $450,000 business plan over two years? One would assume a fair chunk of this will go to coders and marketers to help create a professional site and memorable brand within the Japanese internet market. What a fantastic situation for all IDN'ers, and especialy those who hold Japanese names!

Last year Brian's company sent us the Business plan for this domain as potential investors, and I have to say it is one of the most thoroughly researched business plans I have come across, and I see these things daily.

Lesson 101, know your market, and what was clear about this deal is that a great deal of hard work had gone into researching the space and opportunity.

Congrats to buyer & seller!

Re: Why don't you report?!

Why worry about it?

If this is totally legit, which I have no reason to believe it is not, then the message will get to the place that it matters soon enough.

Why waste your breath on the TRAFFICS and Namepros crowd who still wouldn't get it if it bit them on their arse!

Brian, can you confirm the domain asset is purchased for $150.000 ?

Correction:
You have bought controlling interest for $150.000, that's anything above 50%, i.e. the domain asset is valued $150.000*100/share.
Can you disclose the number ?

Re: Why don't you report?!

Correct me if I am wrong, but the guy with the plan gets a minority stake, whilst the VC takes the lions share, because they are the ones pumping in over half a million dollars.

The sale price it seems was $150K to a domainer who has nothing to show except a pile of cash.

Still another year or two away from IDN moving into mainstream IMO. This guy got a steal at $150k, lucky he got it early as it would probably be 7 figures by 2010. The ICANN 2009 budget plans for major idn rollout, hopefully major languages will indeed be able to take advantage of the fasttrack without too many politics mucking up their planned implementation in 2009.
