Exclamation EU Domains: your strategy for tomorrow.

Free regs will start tomorrow at 11:00 (GMT?! or CET?!).

What's your strategy? Have you pre-registered some? If so, where? How much?

Tomorrow in the first hours, a lot of registrars will try their best firing the pre-registered domains.

Re: EU Domains: your strategy for tomorrow.

Registration start @ 4am Eastern time (11am CEST Brussels time)

I ordered 4 .eu appx 4months ago...will see what happans.

Maybe someone can tell me, if you look at the .eu whois

http://www.whois.eu/whois/GetDomainStatus.htm

Some domains show Available, some show Application pending and some show Registered...

so any domain that now shows available...if i pre reg it now it means its mine tomorrow since i am the 1st person to request it?

Thanks,
and good luck to you guys tomorrow

Michael

The pre-registration will be fired in within seconds. Whether your name goes forward depends where you are on the list. The one I did I first pre-regged a couple of years ago. Can't even remember what is on the list.

Re: EU Domains: your strategy for tomorrow.

· Not buying .eu domains because of lack of IDN support and because all the good names have been trade marked.

I think registrars will fight for the same keyword. You're only 1st on your registrar queu list.

Re: EU Domains: your strategy for tomorrow.

The problem I see is opaqueness at every stage of the process.

If I were a registrar, without any oversight, who would I give the name to?

The guy who applied for a few names a year ago, who gives me 10 or even 100 names worth of business a year, or the firm with 5,000 names under management who applied for the same .eu names yesterday?

hmmmm.

Re: EU Domains: your strategy for tomorrow.

There are some questions I relay would like to know the answers.

IDN:
How will they start the IDN support?
Will they announce a date and hour for that? Will it be gradually?
Will they have variant issues also?
Will they prohibit people from register correctly written IDN domains if there is already a trademark or a register on the non IDN form? They can prove to be a really headache since, for instance, the word “Diario” (means Daily) is written as Diário in Portuguese and Diario in Spanish.

Refused Applications:
When they review the applications and it’s refused, what will they do, how and when?
Check the next application on the list? And in case all are refused (could very well happen)? Will it result on a drop .eu market? If so, very nice domains could show up.

If anyone for Eunic is reading this…

Re: EU Domains: your strategy for tomorrow.

I believe the ones with rejected applications will be available sometime in June.
Even ones that didn't turn in their proper paperwork in time will be granted the same privilege. (give them time to send in papers, disputes, etc.)
