According to my wife, I collect "everything". I started collecting domains in 1996, primarily as a collection without intentions of selling. Just like the other stuff I collect. When I pass on the kids are going to get four count 'em four huge storage spaces full of stuff, so let them deal with it. We ran an antique business for many years (real antiques, not that beany baby crap and other ebay junk).

Here is the way I recently appraised a coin-related domain name for a fellow coin collector:

Est. Value > 1909 S VDB, condition RD MS-66

Est. Value << 1909 S VDB, condition RD MS-67

The original question is an interesting one wrt domaining. I would bet there might be quite a few domainers that collect things.

I used to have a very good collection of Zippo lighters.



When I gave up cigars.......donated them to a charity for them to sell on Ebay...
