I need enlightenment:

こん: do japanese people use "konn" as slang for konnichiwa, or is this just a nonsense syllable?

It's not short for "konnichiwa" and I don't think it really means anything else.

I've seen it used before while on Yahoo Chatrooms....
I guess you've been in the yahoo Japan chatRooms huh...

This is the only place I've seen this.
People who don't use chat it has no meaning to say konnichiwa.

It might have some other meaning as a word but I don't know what it would be.
