What happens after Domain Roundtable?
What do you guys expect to happen after the Domain Roundtable this month?
You can read about it on DNJournal if you haven't
http://www.dnjournal.com/articles/ev...006preview.htm
It might be the first time I've seen a Domaining event that will discuss IDN Domains.
I'm sure they will introduce a lot of new info for those investors/buyers etc. who may not even be aware of the progress of IDN Domains.
What happens afterwards though?
Do we get tons of new members?
Do we start seeing bigger sales?
Does one of these guys take up Edwin & just plane buy him out?
your thought?

Re: What happens after Domain Roundtable?
Any publicity is good for idns, but the biggest publicity will be when Microsoft publicly introduces idn support for IE7. Hopefully, that will be in time to fund next year's reg fees.

Re: What happens after Domain Roundtable?
Frakes: Every angle of the domain industry will be covered, and we’ve tried to not leave anything out. There are four key demographics at the conference; Search Engines and the general public (SEO/Search, PPC, traffic generation), Intellectual Property (corporate interests, specialist attorneys, WIPO panelists, anti-phishing tools), Domain Industry (registries, registrars, committees), and Domain Portfolio Holders (investment community, domain buyers and sellers, domain drop-catching, auction providers and domain speculators).
Within the four groups are subject matter from distinctive focuses that have been great areas of growth, such as IDN and ccTLDs, new Top Level Domains, domain appraisal, domain parking and monetization, intellectual property interests, domain auctions, Wall Street’s perspective on domain names, tax planning for domain portfolios and much, much more......
Is this guy telling us that IDN is the hottest thing in town??!!!
I think it is also highly significant that the two big guns from ICANN are there.
Perhaps we might even get a progress update from Microsoft, who knows? They only live around the bloody corner!

Re: What happens after Domain Roundtable?
I have to say its a bummer. I'd love to attend and its only 10 minute away but IDNs are the only aspect that I am really interested in and I'm not ponying up the cash to go see it. Do you know how many IDNs I could buy with admission money.....

Yes, but it just goes to show how much those that are actually attending must be able to afford if they make the move!

Re: What happens after Domain Roundtable?
My uneducated guess -
The ascii domaining snobs who will make up the bulk of attendees will be swept up in the IDN buzz...
Many, many will curse how they have missed the maturation moment of IDN's...
Many will also get plastered at after conference booze-ups, crying in their cocktails about the ones they 'let drop'...
The sale of Tokyo.net for 10,000k will be on every savvy domainer's lips...
Not long after the show winds up, a few amongst our fellow forum members here (not to name names - Rubber D, Olney, Edwin) will become VERY rich...very quickly.
The rest of us will have varying success over the next 12 months, depending on the calibre of our portfolio's, and a bit of luck.
But needless to say, we will ALL be in a better off position to capitalize on the markets need for IDN's than most of the tossers who will be attending that conference!
How's that for a prediction

Well if not completely valid, it will be by 2007.

You're only 10 minutes away??
Go! You'll make lots of new, VERY GOOD friends and the money spent will pale in insignificance compared to the positive aspects.
If you're planning to become rich from IDN names, thhat's not the ONLY bit worthwhile going. You missed the "Intellectual Property" bit, the "tax planning for domain portfolios" among others.
It's a good investment, believe me.

I would like to track closely what these two gentlemen say.
