this is a very funny post for me...
thanks for posting.....
back in 1992, prior to Mozilla, Mosaic and Netscape...
the only browser so to speak for the web was called Lynx.
for dot gov and dot edu ...text web pages....
no audio no video.....on the web back then....
Back then on Usenet/ Gopher/ FTP / IRC ....
Lynx was referred to as 'a hypertext client' or a 'web client' mostly..
then .....browser and browsing started to be used more...
some how......Lynx and Mozilla started to be referred to as 'browser clients'
then 'browsers'.....
I think just like 'surfing' and 'spamming'.........
West Coast techie / Monty Python / pot smoking slang pushed
'browser'.........
just like 'google' is a fluke misspelling of googol .........when Sergey Brin and Larry Page were looking for a name for their search company...
